Although there were a lot of players missing because of injuries, France outclassed Turkey. Alpay Özalan - Aston Villa FC, Hasan Şaş - Galatasaray SK İstanbul, Nihat Kahveci - Beşiktaş JK İstanbul were taken off the squad before the game due to injuries. Hakan Şükür - Internazionale FC Milano and Abdullah Ercan were in the squad, but couldn't play again because of the injuries. Hakan Ünsal got injured in the 80th minute. Since there were no players left to play, Turkey played the last 10 minutes with 10 players. France took some of their best players off the game in the second half.
