The Tournaments

ECW competition started as "European Cup Winners' Cup".
This competition was open to Cup Winners of all members. Most of the member countries did not have a cup competition. They joined after setting up a competition in their countries. There were only ten teams first year in the competition.

FC became a yearly competition.

ECW and yearly FC caused some scheduling problems for the teams competing in more than one cup. Thus, UEFA limited the entries of teams to one cup only, after this year.

Norway joined the cups.
