SL Benfica Lisboa C Atlético Madrid Valencia CF
The Tournament The status of the ECW final was changed. The teams play one game at a neutral site, now. It used to be a teo legged home-and-away type of final. The final was played at Scotland as a neutral site. However the game ended as a tie. A second game was played at another neutral site, Stuttgart. Malta and Wales joined the cups. Since the Welsh teams play in the English league structure, they can play only in the ECW. GDR was not recognized by most of the Western European countries. Entry visa for GDR teams were refused in these countries. Teams of these countries had to play their home games either in another country which recognizes GDR, or they withdrew from the competition.
