Midnight Daze and MiGold

In 1995, my boss went to Mexico with his father to get a load of horses to bring back for resale. Among these horses was a little black gelding that was given the name Taco. He wasn't a big horse, maybe 14.2 hands, but he made up for it in attitude. He was loads of fun to ride, but if the rider didn't let him know what they wanted him to do, he would decide to hang around the barn. He got sold and disappeared for awhile, but came back in 1996. A young woman named Kim had been renting horses for awhile and was looking to buy her own. Taco turned out to be just the horse for her. She changed his name to Midnight Daze. These two were perfectly suited for each other, but when Kim went to college, she had to sell him. He went to a lesson farm, and was then sold to someone else. Kim knows where he is and still sees him often. She says he has a great home, even though she still misses him.

I have always had a soft spot for palominos. When I was younger, my dream horse was a 16.3 hand palomino mare, with a pure white mane and tail, four stockings and a stripe. When I first saw Mickey, while hack riding in 1995, I just about fell off the horse I was riding. He was my dream horse come to life! After I bought D.J., I met his owner Deanna. He was her dream horse too. When she saw him, she practically bought him on the spot. I got to ride Mickey several times. He was espcially fun, because he had a "button". If he was being ridden and the rider touched his hind end, just behind the saddle, he would buck. He wasn't mean about it, I guess he was just ticklish.
