Lisa and That-a-Way, 1997
That-a-Way was an Appendix Quarter Horse that belonged to my friend Lisa. When I met her, she had already had him for a few years. She loved this horse to death. He really had a lot of personality. He was very fast, and if you cued him right, he would rear. He also had navicular. Lisa and That-a-Way battled it for a long time. Many times, it made him lame. It got to a point where he was having many more lame days than sound ones. E-rays revealed that his navicular bone was in very bad shape. So, in November of 1997, Lisa made the decision to let That-a-Way go to a better place. Although she did get a new horse, That-a-Way will always be special.
