July 2002 Flowers

Zinnias, zinnias, zinnias!

Double yellow alcea (hollyhock) found in the "summer carnival" mix and an unknown unusual hollyhock.

I love my pinks! Their sweet clovey smell is my favorite garden fragrance. On the left, an alpine pink (dianthus alpinus), on the left a cheddar pink.

'Bright lights' cosmos

An unnamed dark color cosmos

Centaurea (bachelor's buttons)

'Rose queen' cleome (spiderflower)- an outstanding annual reseeder and an unnamed bitone cleome.

Leucanthum superbum 'Miss Muffett' (shasta daisy)

I scored these magnificent 'plum tart' gladiolus from Wal-Mart. I get many complements on the striking colors of these glads. The peach one was a 'bonus' in the bag-- ie it wasn't supposed to be there, but I like it anyway.

Hostas never get any credit for having interesting flowers!

I just love my Oak Leaf Hydrangea!

I got the seeds for these ruellia (wild petunia) from a gal in Texas.

'Moonbeam' coreopsis have dainty flowers that don't photograph well, but they are really reliable bloomers in the garden.

Lovely pink, red and fuschia perennial poppies I coerced into flowering in the very first year.

Unknown triple rudbeckia.

More Zinnias!
