June 2002

I have several varieties of rudbeckia, also known as Black Eyed-Susan, in my garden.

This was supposed to be ipomoea imperialis 'chocolate' (chocolate moonflower) but looks a whole lot like ipomoea 'rose silk'. There are some differences, however, my "silk chocolate" as I call it, is slightly larger than 'rose silk' and does not have variegated foliage like 'rose silk'.

I love alcea (hollyhock) and have many varieties in my garden. Shown here are the double red, found in the 'summer carnival mix'; a black semi-double; a black single (alcea nigra); a double burgundy and double white, also found in the 'summer carnival mix'.

Unnamed single and double orange daylillies that used to belong to my mother.

Monarda 'cambridge scarlet' (red bee balm), a magnificent plant that grows aggressively. Can not be propegated by seed.

Allium moly, a totally no maintainace plant!
