"If there's one thing we can learn from all this knitting, it's that you have to go back where you left off. . .You have to pick up the lost stitches"--Maria Celia
"I've lost a whole life of stitches in this house.A whole life. That's what gets to me. So many days gone. . .I could knit a whole bedspread for this island with all the lost days" -- Sofia
OK, starting from February 1st until today (March 5) I have been begging, pleading, working, crying, and dreaming up whatever else I could think of to help my parents make up their minds about taking me to NYC to see "Two Sisters and a Piano". Finally, after we watched 'Wild Things' for the thousandth time, my dad said ok! (I point Daphne out, everytime she comes on to the screen). He said "We'll take a ride out and see if we can get some tickets."
I slept for no more than 5 minutes last night.
I was so excited, I got up at 5 and e-mailed all my friends to tell them. I took my shower, and then started the process of how to wear my hair. (which will turn out to be a good choice...read on) I finally decided on two buns, sort of Princess Leah style, except not over my ears....then I decided to wear my blue sweater and matching pants, my favorite. I had to go back on the internet, waiting for my parents to wake up and get ready. Finally, they woke up. It took them forever to get ready!
Finally at 3, we got on the road....but we had to stop at the flower store, for some roses;) . By the time my dad and I got back to the car, my mom had realized that she forgot something back at the house. OY! I wanted to get there early, so I could give Daphne the flowers before the show. We got on the parkway, and we did great, until we got to the city. My family practically spends all their time there, but my dad doesn't really know his way around downtown. We stopped 3 times for directions, and none of the 3 people spoke english...coincedence I guess... Finally I saw the Public Theater flags, and we squeezed our big car in to this tiny spot,(sooo funny) it looked like a big bear in the circus, wedged in between to little weeny cars. We got there early,(and there was this lil adorable doggie in the lobby) but not early enough:( I asked, practically begging the girl who worked there to take me to go meet Daphne, or a stage door, I could knock on or something, but she insisted, no stagedoor, but that Daphne comes out at the end of the performance.
We were still early, so we went to eat at this Soup and Burger place, which was very cute and if you're gonna eat there, you need Goliath's mouth, WOW those hamburgers were huge! I've never seen food that big!
We walked back in to the theater, just in time to get seated and start the show.
As I sat down, the lights went black in the tiny theater and there was this lightbulb crashing noise....from the show, not the theater. *although while in the theater, there was this rumbling under me, like a subway going under the theater, and it really grew on me,it was actually quite a nice feeling, lol)ok, back to this loud noise, that started the show. I wasn't exactally sure what happened, but I jumped so far, that the lady in front of me hissed at me to put my flowers under my seat so the wouldn't crinkle.
Daphne came out in this cute white-ish lil dress with bows on her shoulders, and I cried, I admire her more than anyone! As the play got going, it was fantastic!!! The girls were so passionate with their characters, and the music, and the plot line, which is a little fuzzy for me, but I got everything they were talking about. They had the greatest accents.
There was a short intermission, and I bough a black Public Theater tee-shirt.
:::show started again:::one of the sisters was sleeping with the bad guy, and then she and her sister realized that he wasn't right for them, that he was wrong, in some way, that he was the enemy.
There was alot of crying and when Daphne cries, she's soooo good at it, it made me want to cry!lol.
:::show ended::: I waited in the lobby...waited, hopped back and forth from one foot to the other, and back again. I talked to a few people...finally she came out, georgeous as always, looked right at me and said "hi" and gave me a huge Daphne-smile. She went over to her family, and greeted them, and made her way over to me. I was telling her about how I owned the site. I was so surpised that I could form intelligent sentences! She was wearing this pretty orange skirt *the color of the background* and he hair was long and down. I asked for her autograph, I showed her the page, I had picked out, and as I handed her my pen, her dad made a comment which made me melt...he said "Daphne used to wear her hair like that all the time when she was younger." AHHHHHHH!!!! I made the right hair choice! What luck! She gave me 2 wonderful hugs and then she went to talk with her great, talentd co-star. And I talked to her brother and her dad who were equally sweet! I saw her with this big group of guys around her...I guess Daphne groupies,... they all seemed to be looking at her so lovingly:D ... and I made my way in between them to get a pic of the side and back of her. She looked up and I gave her a lil wave.
Then my great ol' mom went over and asked Adriana Sevan (Maria Celia) if her a Daphne would take pictures with me, and she said yes! OHH! The 2 girls got me in the middle, it was so sweet, I could've cried! I now have picture, which i am desperately trying to post, but that, sadly, is easier said than done. I did manage to get one up there of Daphne, Me and Adriana (who was very sweet and seemed very outgoing).
My dad, who was holding everyones poofy coats, kept saying 'lets go', and he was carrying my purse and my moms, which is soooo heavy, so we humored him, and reluctantly left...i wish i could've stayed longer...but I was so happy, I was taking pic of the outside of the theater and benches and things...street signs...
March 8th, I mailed Daphne and Adriana the pictures I took, and nothing I can do now, but dream! :::giggle:::
MARCH 28, I GOT A LETTER FROM DAPHNE!!!!!! SHE SAID I HAD A WONDERFUL VOICE AND I SORTA LOOKED LIKE HER AND ALL SORTS OF WONDERFUL THINGS!!!!!! THERE IS SUCH A HUGE SMILE ON MY FACE, I DON'T THINK I WILL GO AWAY,lol.
YAHHHHHOOOOOO!!!!(and I've never been more happy to have "elfy-eyes" in my entire life!)
