A Theatrical Act of Creation

Inspire me, O Muses!
So that my emotions may flow
From this pen, and here in words,
This poet & playwright's heart be shown!
And there-upon the stage,
Let me see
A celebration of emotions;
A celebration of humanity.
Let it be expressed in rhyme and song.
And let it be danced
If words would be wrong.
Let all nine of the Ladies
Of Parnassus & Helicon Peak
Inspire this creation
Of the Arts I seek.
Let there be dance & song;
Let it be comic & tragic;
Emotional & inspirational;
And, above all, magic!
For when the words that are written
Upon the script's page
Are translated lovingly
To the living stage,
It is humanity
That is created.
When the Arts come together as one
It is Life that is celebrated!
So let there be light!
Apollo, strike Your Lyre!
Muses, fill my creation
Inspirational fire!
Let my artistic work
Breathe life on the stage!
And let the audience, in their seats,
Be uncontrollably engaged.
And when they empathize as one,
And laughter & tears fill their hearts,
Then ~only then~ is my job done.
Then this artist has done his part.
Let me look upon the stage,
And as a proud parent would,
Let me say to myself with pleasure,
"It is good!"
