If there's one topic out in the world of pokemon that gets to us all, whether we fight for it or against, whether we dedicate or lives (or just our websites) to declaring it or destroying it...the one question that burns in all our minds and hearts...just waiting to burst in an intricate weave of pictures and color and even thought...the one question... What does she put in her hair?!? (*Giggles at the suspense she built up*) In the words of my brother, GOTCHA! >D But seriously, people, when it comes to Pokemon, there comes a time where you begin to notice all the tension between the male/female characters...most particularly, Jessie and James. I think that you really can't ignore it...their feelings for each other can be so obvious sometimes---and though I know every little thing Jess/Jim do is sometimes practically taken under a microscope and twisted around...I believe that there is alot of general, easy-to-see "evidence" out there. So below is some reasoning. Part A: So, does she....? On Jessie:Jessie has a very strong fondess for James, although she doesn't show it very often (think: Maiden's Peak, ), and the bond between them is unbreakable. The thing is, Jessie's just way too strong to admit she needs someone...and past disapointment dimishes her trust, that's why she shines away from human affection. She hits poor James on the head to keep him at attention, or to snap him into seriousness, so he won't get in trouble...or be taken from her side, and Jessie probably couldn't stand this. As for truly having affections for him I'd have to say...yes! As I said before, she's too strong to admit she needs someone right now, but I think James has the key to her heart, and I really think he's helping her to bring out her softer side. There's been a definate change her attitude, and while Jessie still shows sign of ungratefulness (think: Stun Spore Detour...), she's much more forgiving towards James and Meowth. And I think that has a lot to do with James. (And Meowth too..!) *Maybe it's intuitionSome things you just don't question Like in your eyes, I see my future in an instant And there it goes,I think I found my best friend...* Part B: So, Does he...? On James:Absolutley! James admires Jessie, and he's so friendly with her you can tell he really likes her. And despite how much Jess has improved herself, I think James is still slightly afraid of her. He, too, has been abused and neglected...this makes him the shy guy that he can sometimes be. But it really wouldn't stand in the way if he told her he liked her. He needs a different kind of love, the gentle, patient, love you give to a child. Jessie uses a different form of love, I guess you can call it "tough love" on him, however, and therefore it wouldn't dominate that kind of relationship. I think that while Jess has helped him grow in character (notice how tough he acts sometimes---like in The Fortune Hunters?)he's still got the innocent spirits of a little kid (which I think is incredibly adorable!). Not even tough love can take that away. Between the two of them, there has been a lot of improvement. As the series progressed, we saw many changes in TR's relationship and character. What started as an innocent affections and general messages of "I care about your well-being, not to be confused with caring about you..." has blossomed into true love. So Are they an item...? Let the note-taking begin, rocketshippers. Section I--JAMES IS NOT GAY. Okay, I know that he acts very fruitily, and he's said things that are misinterpreted. But think of this: if kids started noticing a gay character on the show, then the parents find out, and the ratings go through the floor! Don't you think these show executives think ahead?! Yes, some Japan shows have a lot of gay characters...but they are usually very openly and honestly gay. I've heard of a few gay characters, I've heard about the whole S-Moon/Zoycite thing, but c'mon, Pokemon is rated TV-Y. Has James ever remotely shown interest in another guy before? If he's a homosexual, then why does he constantly flirt with and touch Jessie? *Grins* I just thought I'd put that shot in. Section II---The Cross-Dressing Issue. Three words: For entertainment only! OK? Sure, we looked at that Holiday at Acapuluco pic thousands of times. Maybe that's why the episode in it's entirety remains UNAIRED! Seriously though, we've got to laugh at James' constant "Coooool!" chant at the St Anne episode. His wannabee girl voice always makes us crack up. And even then, he's complained about it, poked fun at himself, and, falsetto voice and all, actually dropped shippy hints at Jessie! I think we can safely deduce that James only dresses like a woman in the line of duty. (After all, he and Jessie are the masters of disguises!) Second of all, the whole crossdressing routine establishes Jessie's leadership in the group. Though I mentioned there were a lot of changes in character--particularly in leadership--I think we can safely say that Jessie is the one who leads James and Meowth along the way. She tends to be bossy but this is only to get the job done right. It's just part of the plan. It makes their personalities stand out more----Jessie has a more tomboy attitude, and James a more sensitive one. This can be good, because it goes against most stereotypes which are presented in a certain *other* team...a stubborn little kid, a whiny teenage girl, and a hormone-driven teenage boy....hmmm... Section III----Proof by Episodes. Muhahahaha!! Time for some fun! "Pokemon Shipwreck" This was one of the first truly shippy episodes. In this one, our heroes were trapped on the luxury cruise ship the St. Anne, which had capsized and sunk to the bottom of the sea. Sweet! Now, I know I might be twisting things, and I really shouldn't be, but the looks in their eyes gives me the message of "I need to tell you something..." Perhaps I'm hallucinating. Ok. Enough of that. The scene: when things became very bad for Jess and Jim, and when they thought they were going to die, James clasped Jess' hands, called her "Jessica," and said, "Whoever said beauty doesn't last must have been thinking of us." To which she replied, "I'll always remember what a wonderful..dresser you were!" And he agrees: "So will I!" I think that they may have wanted to say something different; but the tones of their voices and the way they looked into each other's eyes was significant enough. And later, when James didn't want to cross the flames, Jessie was very gentle with him, promising that she wasn't going to leave him. "We'll go together," she says gently. *I know that it might sound more than a little crazy But I believe..... I knew I loved you before I met you, I think I dreamed you into life, I knew I loved you before I met you, I have been waiting all my life.* "The Ghost Of Maiden's Peak!" A touching episode in which a beautiful and very psychotic maiden impersonater posseses Brock and James, leaving it to Ash, Misty and Jessie, to rescue them...good luck folks! After James sees her, his eyes pop out into the shape of hearts and he exclaims, "Sweet!" His childish actions of wanting to do nothing but wait for the maiden rally start to piss Jess off. She can't get through to him at all, and has to eventually drag him away... Could it be that she was jealous that James was in love...but not with her? And even though Jessie was angry with him, she still did her best to protect James and keep him out of trouble. Why? Well, when Jessie tried to say the motto by herself, she realized she just couldn;t do it without James by her side. After the first line she facefaults and remarks, "Doing this by myself is a real drag." This means that their relationship is not just about being partners--it's about friendship and love too. <<--After being saved by Jessie's massive bazooka that seems to appear from nowhere (!) James eagerly climbs back up the cliff, and, holding on for dear life, eclaims You really DO care!" His voice is full of emotion (actually it's just squeaky ^_^), and he's got a big grin plastered on his face. He's obviously happy and means what he says. *There's just no rhyme or reason Only the sense of completion Like in your eyes...I see the missing pieces.....* Her reply? Oh, she doesn't give a hoot about him, she just *suddenly* wants vengance on all maiden ghosts, specifically ones that sit around and always wait for their man to come back, and They'll cry over him, "But I'd say 'Seeya later!' There are plenty of other fish in the sea." She lets her "tough" side take over...and come on, after seeing this ep. rpeatedly, thjere *is* some sense and reason into beginning to think that's just a cover line. ^_^ I mean, of COURSE her attempted murder of that ghost (who was dead to begin with, so what good does it do? Hmm?)that was making her way jealous/angry didn't have a thing to do with James. Excuses, excuses. "The Problem with Paras" I think that while this episode doesn't exactly rank up there with "Holy Matrimony!" or whatnot, it had some good moments, and it's a favorite of mine. It had a LOT of Team Rocket scenes...they were in it almost more than the twerps! (gasps at possible miracle) In the opening scene, Jess and Jim discuss the plans of the day, which haven't changed (as usual)--get Pikachu. They start to crawl off, when Jessie realizes they've forgotten Meowth. They find him lying against a tree, fever-struck. Jess opts to leave him behind, but James stops her, saying Meowth could collapse from his fever. Oh well, Jess says, "He's still got 8 more lives left." And James agrees with her (!) and they clasp hands ready to get Pikachu. Hmmm, Jess, trying to get some time alone with a certain someone?..It's fun to dream. ^_~ The scene: Meowth confides in James about his crush on Paras trainer Cassandra. With a blush creeping across his face, James tells him, "Don't be shy, I know exactly how you feel about her." (No, I'm not talking about Cassandra here---James' next line is "She's a female who knows how to treat a feline." Keyword:Feline!) and that "Cupid's arrow strikes...when you least expect it!" At that second, Jessie's paper fan crashes down upon them. O_o Very eerie symbolism there... **murmurs from crowd** ^_^;; *And there it goes, I think I found my way homeI know that it might sound more than a little crazy But I believe.....* Episode: "Attack of the Prehistoric Pokemon" This was also very Rocketshippy in my view. Team Rocket is planning to blow up this canyon, and when Ash tries to stop them, they all fall in this hole the explosion created. Scary pokemon come out, and all hell breaks loose! And here's the aforementioned lunge!! Surprise!---- it's actually Jessie that quite literally throws herself at him! And it's a leg popping hug!! Eeee! She really does enjoy this! Once again proving that Jessie does have a soft spot for James. She looks up to him in times of..peril..she relies on him for comfort and protection! **stares at pic for hours** Unbelievable! So cute, so cute! I just want to point out that even in times of danger, there's no greater place to be han in the arms of a loved one. I mean, if you look past that "Scary-pokemon!-Oh-my-God-we're-gonna-die-please-someone-do-something-don't-just-stand-there-please-help-us-already" (Whew!) look on their faces, don't they just look ...right? I mean, look at the postions of their hands! Minus the fear factor, these two are all over each other...OK I'm stretching it, but... Aight, enough. Overall, a very good psiode, lots of shippyness. Sorta ranks up there with the infamous Holy Matrimony....hey, speaking of..... *I knew I loved you before I met youI think I dreamed you into life I knew I loved you before I met you I have been waiting all my life...* Aight...you KNEW this was coming! Holy Matrimony! has been unofficially dubbed the best rocketshippy episode to date. Semi-complicated plot reveals James' wicked childhood, intoduces James' parents, who are completely ignorant and just downright blind to the evilness of his finacee...that southern airhead, the biatch from hell whom all rocketshippers have come to hate, Jezebel. (And the spelling IS correct!) Who looks remarkingly like.....could it be...... JESSIE?! **false shock** Oh my goddess! The likeness is unbelievable. It turns out that Jessie and Meowth could get away with big bucks ...if James only marries that God-forsaken woman. Otherwise, if he doesn not marry Jezebel in a day, the estate will be donated to charity. (there are lots of legal plotholes that I could go on and on explaining, so lets skip down a bit.) Jessie prompts James against his will, saying it would be easy to "fake a wedding and grab the cash." With the help of some "Invisibility" suits and some dumb luck, Jessie and Meowth manuever James into his house to face his parents and fiancee. Of course, James' family has already figured out Jessie and Meowth's plans (I guess those suits didn't work out too well...) Jezebel easily lures Jessie and Meowth, who think they're a step away from James' inheiritance, into the dungeons. In fact, they're taking James right where his family wants him to be. With their help, Jezebel will force James to become a "true gentleman." (?!? But he already IS one!!) Blinded by greed, James' partners have led him into the one place he'd never want to go back to. Welcome home, Jimmy boy. ...meanwhile, Jessie and Meowth's (and everyone else there, but who cares?) plans are foiled. Their schemes and dreams of becoming rich have left them thrown out of the manor, minus one of their good friends. (Noticed how depressed Jess looks? She's so worried!) .......Here one half (or, with Meowth, two-thirds) of Team Rocket start down the dusty road to God-knows-where. Both Jessie and Meowth are equally upset, and are questioning why James left. (AGAIN note the depressed look on her face) Jessie realizes she's learned the error of her ways (forcing James to marry Jezebel) and thinks she's pushed him over the edge...that he;s left for good... *A thousand angels dance around you....* .......But of course, like the sweetheart he is, James comes back, and a Team united stands tall again. (Note:This song that you're hearing now, "I knew I Loved You" by Savage Garden, should of been played at the end.) ...Have you ever seen Jessie so....happy, so overjoyed, in her entire life? I don't think so. James pulls her up into the balloon, *without* Meowth, and their meaningful, almost poetic, conversation leads up to the ending that has gone down in Rocketshipper history. Thank-you, Svetlana for this pic!!!!! *I am complete now that I found you......* Hmm, now, perhaps I'm a little stoned on caffenine...but that "handshake"--if you'd like to call it that--seems to form a certain shape...oh, would you look at that! Their hands just happen to form in the shape of a heart! Coincedence? No freaking way. This is the ultamite proof people. Not a platonic moment. The sunset, the music, the way the clasp hands---there's something there... *I knew I loved you before I met youI think I dreamed you into life....* Guys, this is the *look* that makes us all melt. I don't even think that was a handshake anymore. This is the affirmation of their friendship..of their love for each other...( two seconds more and and whoi knows what would have happened!! I think Meowth broke their little balloon romance b/c he was aware and afraid of what might have happened!! ^_^) *....I knew I loved you before I met you I have been waiting all my life....* "Princess Vs. Princess" Yay! Princess Day! It's time for the Princess Festival, where girls and women kick ass, and men have to do whatever they're told! At the beginning of this ep, Jessie caught a Lickitung. She spent the entire day shopping, with James and Meowth throwing confetti at her and whatnot (aww!). Jessie's day is completely ruined--I mean, er,--she bumps into the twerp Misty and they have spat...and decide to settle it out by entering a tournament. The prize? A set of one-of-a-kind Princess dolls, of which MISTY HAS THREE! Ahem, sorry, I lost it. Cuteness alert---During the pageant, Jessie and Misty were dressed in beautiful kimonos. James and Ash were in the audience, and their faces lit up like Christmas trees and both of them gave a little sigh when the saw the two of them: those guys were in love!! It was such a cute moment, I'll even give Ash and Misty some shippy points--that's a a rarity for me! *I knew I loved you before I met you... I knew I loved you...* James didn't understand why Jessie was so dead-set against winning. Jessie explained to him that she had never had any..period. Saddened by this, James took her hands in his own, gazed into her eyes and told her that he hoped this year would be different for her---he hoped that she'd win the dolls! But..she lost. Which actually makes no sense, because Lickitung KO'd Pikachu, the god of the show, in one shot. Crushed by defeat, Jessie began to cry. But then, James came to her. He had dressed himself and their pokemon to create a makeshift duplicate doll set. Jess wasn't quite thrilled, but she knew James had tried, and called them "a bunch of living dolls!" (What a guy!!) YaY! More Evidence!! Too much for me! Go back!! No more of this! Song---Savage Garden's "I Knew I Loved You" (Isn't that the BEST theme?)

*Maybe it's intuitionSome things you just don't question Like in your eyes, I see my future in an instant And there it goes,I think I found my best friend...*
Part B: So, Does he...?
On James:Absolutley! James admires Jessie, and he's so friendly with her you can tell he really likes her. And despite how much Jess has improved herself, I think James is still slightly afraid of her. He, too, has been abused and neglected...this makes him the shy guy that he can sometimes be.
