Ok, no ranting on this page. <hmpf> But anyways, sketching and doodling out ideas is but a relaxing activity for me that none of you mere mortals could ever understand completely. What the heck am i saying? <see, it's hard to write stuff and listen to music at the same time sometimes>. Enjoy if thou can.

Lately i've been doing a lot of close-up sketches of my characters. This one is supposed to be Ashley looking for a jeep to ride on. As you know, i am having a hard time trying to draw inanimate objects, much less a moving one. So you'll see NO jeepney here.
Since manga is such an emotion-driven art form, i decided to 'invent' emotions that i see around me, or at least that's common and not at all that absurd. The problem is, i really didn't become 'original' at all. Looks like i may have to think about this one.

One of my favorite characters, July is sort of that modern-day Maria Clara. Personally, i really don't like that type of girl (i think they're boring), but i would like to put in a special personality for her (maybe a Jekyll-Hyde syndrome or something similarly spicy). Notice my problem with inanimate backgrounds. See, if i pursued an architectural course, i would be making more progress than this. But nooooooo, i took a computer engineering course and here i am getting fat for sitting all day in front of a computer. Not that i'm regretting it ofcourse :) Just look at all the games i am playing right now.

Btw, if you must know, the background is actually the exact setting of the company office where i work. I didn't include the minor knick-knacks that seems to take residence in my officemates' desks.

I was pretty surprised the first time i introduced Lilith -- people actually thought she was pretty even though my first sketch of her was kinda tiny. So i decided to expound on this sophisticated four-eyed lady and give her the ultimate obsession -- the love for money! Ofcourse you won't be seeing that here. I was doodling away again. :)
Now that i had my characters, i was thinking of what they have to wear. I don't want plain t-shirts and polo. It has to be the fashion of this generation, y'know what i'm saying? Including well, um, fashion for kids. Btw, the thumbnail on the left is supposed to be a baby picture of Ashley. I was thinking of a joke that since Ashley was part chinese, somebody would comment on her baby picture and say, "So what age did you develop eyes?". eheheh. I think chinky eyes are cute tho.
Let's see now ... since you have characters and their outfits, what you have left are, that's right, poses! Just don't hit me on this one, because i am SO a beginner.
Here's just a second skectch of poses. I find the expression of Lilith and July kinda cute on this one.
Awright, when you get your eyes on Helsing, Vampire Hunter D, Castlevania, and House of the Dead, what does that leave in your subconscious mind? In my case, that means something new to make a story of !! I've invented sword-wielding, gun-toting Jillian Ibarraconmienda as the scourge of the supernatural in an alternate-Philippines setting in the year 1806. Juicy isn't it?
