HARRY MILLER : Suggested Favorite Cool Links

Here are some selected favorite links of mine. Have fun and enjoy!!!

Music and Musician sites :

Ken Palmer - Ken was my very first and therefore most important piano teacher. Based in St. Louis, Mr. Palmer is an outstanding pianist and composer worthy of international recognition. Check out his beautiful and deep solo piano recording "in a quiet place." Mr. Palmer is the music director at the Unity Church in St. Louis, where he premieres new original works frequently. He also holds a doctorate degree in composition from Washington University. Can you tell I think highly of his musicianship?!
Avi Bortnick - Guitarist extraordinaire (also my homeboy from University City, MO) and 4 year member of The John Scofield Band - Avi plays on three tracks of my CD "Jazz Beauty Supply"
John Scofield - A very creative electric guitarist
Steve Slagle - Innovative saxophonist who has worked in the bands of Carla Bley, Charlie Haden, Mike Stern, Joe Lovano, and many others; featured prominently on my CD "Jazz Beauty Supply"
Paul McCandless - Amazing composer and multi-instrumentalist from the group "Oregon" - one of my favorite musicians
Mike Brecker - One of the most astonishing tenor saxophonists that ever lived.
Greg Osby - Adventurous alto saxophonist, composer and former Blue Note recording artist whom I first met when we were both teenagers in St. Louis. Greg played on my first CD "Open House" back in 1988
Jerome Harris - Bass guitarist, guitarist, and vocalist who has played with everyone from Sonny Rollins to Vernon Reid, and was also kind enough to appear on "Open House"
Dave Edwards - This "freak of nature" plays acoustic bass, electric bass, guitar, drums, violin, vocals, piano, and conducts orchestras. Truly an amazing musician. He is the wonderful bass player on my CD's "Live at the Museum" and "Jazz Beauty Supply." Dave is also a minister and a truly nice person.
Hill Greene - Another stellar bassist, check out his work with vocalist Jimmy Scott
Jazz Ambassadors Magazine - A jazz periodical resource from Kansas City, MO
Mike Metheny - A fantastic trumpeter/flugelhornist in Kansas City
Pat Metheny Group - Mike's younger brother Pat and his cohort Lyle Mays are two of my all time favorite musicians. Check out the "American Garage" forum section of the site
Terri Lyne Carrington - The solo drumming you hear upon arriving at this website will be enough to convince you of the incredible musicianship of "TLC"
Joseph Diamond - My longtime friend was a NYC based contemporary jazz keyboardist/composer. He tragically passed away in 2008 and will be sorely missed.
Eli Yamin - NYC based jazz pianist/composer/educator - cofounder of the Jazz Drama Project for young people
Rebecca Martin - Vocalist who has a beautiful voice and a unique approach to interpreting songs
Mike Jarosz - A fantastic trumpeter from Philly whom I worked with in Maynard Ferguson's band. Mike is a creative improviser.
Kate McGarry - When it comes to singing jazz and Brasilian songs, she is one of the best! Kate and I happened to be residents of the same meditation ashram during 96/97 and I was really happy to see one of her recordings nominated for a Grammy award in 2009!
Vince Ector - A talented drummer, originally from Philly, whom I met while living in Paterson, NJ. Vince played on my CD "Live at the Museum." Co-founder of the non-profit "Arts for Kids" program.
