The Binder

All classwork and homework should be kept sequentially in student binders behind the appropriate subject dividers. Binder pockets should never be used for homework.

Papers should never be discarded from the binder without Mrs. Schoenberger’s approval.

  • Daily assignments should be copied into the homework book (kept in binder) and checked off as they are completed each evening at home.

  • Please, inspect and replace binders with misaligned rings ASAP!

  • Binder Pocket: This pocket in the front or rear of the binder, contains all notices and papers that need to be signed by a parent. Please check this folder each night for important notices.

  • Writer’s Portfolio: This is a special writing folder that is used during Writer’s Workshop. The writings contained in this folder are not homework. However, the students may bring the folder home to work on at their own leisure, but please make sure that the folder is returned to school the very next day as we do work on writing everyday.

  • Please Check the Binder Every Night!

Homework & Absences

Homework is usually 60-90 minutes per night. This includes studying. There is no homework on Friday.

Each night, please make it a routine to practice multiplication facts.

  • Homework “buddies” are highly recommended. Be sure your child has at least on person to contact regarding questions about homework. Your child can also contact me by e-mail (mkennedy81@msn.com)

  • If a student does not have their homework on the day that it is due they will receive a “O” until that work is completed. Usually that work is completed during the student’s recess time. When they turn in their assignment, that “O” will become a grade of fifty-five.

  • Your child needs to be in school unless they are ill. Let them know that you feel attendance is important. If you must remove your child during school hours, please try to bring them right back to school after their appointments.

  • Missed work needs to be made up ASAP. Please oversee this process. Students will complete missed work at lunch recess on the day of return.

  • Study Spelling Words from Words to Learn Card

  • Make time every night to Read For Reado!
