Chapter 16

Amanda

'Hey Autumn...aren't you supposed to be working today?' I asked.

Autumn looked up from her book at me than at the clock 'Yea I guess so' she replied quietly.

'Whats wrong?' I asked. She shrugged in reply while walking out of the kitchen.

Melanie ran in right after, she began shuffling with something in the drawer. 'Where is that bloody hammer?!?' she exclaimed.

'Not in the kitchen' I said.

She glared at me and ran into the hallway. Suddenly the doorbell rang followed by the quick opening of the door.

'Hey Scott!' I heard Autumn exclaim happily. I walked into the living room where they were standing.

'Hey Amanda' he greeted me 'Hows the head?'

'Fine' I smiled, tired of being asked that question.

'So, what are you doing here?' Autumn asked 'I was just leaving to work'

'I decided to stop by' he replied, kissing her softly.

'Amanda, I can't find the bloody hammer!' Mel yelled out as she walked into the room. She stopped suddenly at the sight of Scott and Autumn kissing. Scott looked up at her and smiled. Autumn turned around to face her, her eyes turned darker than usual.

'Its in the hallway' I replied to Mel who just nodded absently. Autumn turned back to Scott and began pushing him out of the house 'Can you drive me to work?' she asked.

'Actually, I wanted to talk to Melanie' he said, afraid of Autumn's reaction he stepped back. It took her few seconds to get the idea, she nodded hesitantly than turned to me and Mel.

'I'll see you guys later' she said quietly with no expression.

She brushed past Scott who stood in the doorway with his head hanged down.

'Don't just stand there' I said to him 'Come in' He looked up at me and smile, taking a step foward.

Liz

'The pub is packed and its only 12' J said to me.

'Its the lunch hour special thats attracting them' I replied.

'No, they just see you and have to come in' he took my hand and kissed.

'Don't you have to be somewhere? Photo shoot? Magazine Interview?'

'Are you trying to get rid of me?' J asked offended.

'No, its just weird having you around' I said

'You know what' he said with a suspicous look 'I just think you're afraid of showing public affection'

'J...please' I shrugged it off.

He looked at me curiously before jumping on the bar. He began clapping his hands loudly 'Attention everyone, may I have your attention!!' he yelled out 'My name is Jason Brown...and right here is Liz Lewis, I would just like to say that Liz is the most amazing girl I have met so far!'

He leaned down and kissed me passionately, sending shivers down my spine.

Melanie

'Can I take you out to lunch?' Scott asked me.

I looked at him hesitantly but Amanda pinched me slightly. I knew I couldn't say no.

'Ok' I replied 'I'll just go get my coat'

I walked towards the closet and got my black velvet coat.

'Have fun kids' Amanda called after us as we left the house.

'Autumn wasn't to thrilled when she left' I spoke up.

Scott scoffed under his nose as he opened the door of his car for me.

'She'll get over it' he said after getting in.

'You don't her well, do you?'

'I'm planning to'

The drive was silent until we reached a small restaurant. It was a quiet place, isolated from the public. We sat by a window overlooking a park.

'I have to admit' Scott said with a grin 'This is better than that balcony yesterday'

'Just don't think I'm here to chitter chat' I said sternly.

'Of course' Scott nodded 'We're here to talk buisness'

'Scott...just say what you have to say' I mumbled irritated.

He exhaled loudly than smiled 'I tired calling you few months ago'

'You did?' I was taken back.

'Yea...did you think I forgot about you?' he said offended 'I called your house, your mother picked up...I got the courage to ask for you, but she said you moved out, I guess she didn't recognize me' he laughed 'She would probably hang up on me'

'If she wouldn't I would' I said.

'When did you move out?' he asked, ignoring my comment.

'A year ago' I replied 'I had to move on, that little town did nothing for me...'

Scott nodded, I knew he saw how much we had in common, we pratically grew up together. He saw that me moving on meant leaving everything behind.

'You know whats the hardest part of moving on?' I asked 'Not looking back'

I could feel his hand slip into mine. I wanted to pull it back, but the warmth of his flesh paralyzed me. I wanted to feel his whole body against mine.

'Maybe looking back is better than you thought' he whispered.
