I stopped short at one of the doors and stared at it blankly. I knew what was beyoned it. Suddenly it opened and Ritch stepped out, almost knocking me.
'Amanda!' He gasped surprised 'Why are you standing there?'
'I..I' I couldn't look at his eyes, I was near crying.
'What's wrong?' He asked softly, taking my chin and pulling it up to his face.
I bit my lip and strained a smile 'I love you' I told him with a smile. A wide smile spread his face as he kissed me.
'I love you too' He whispered. I watched him walk onto the set where he was admired by other girls. I took a deep breath and exhaled.
Ok, so that didn't go too well. I tried telling him the truth and instead I announce my love for him. This is going to be harder than I thought. I turned away from the others and began walking into Scott's room direction when suddenly Mel appeared. She didn't see me though, she stood in front of his door like I did with Ritch. I saw her look back at Liz who gave a good luck gesture.
'What's going on?' I asked myself.
Abs hates me, sure, and I'm a horrible person, I won't deny that. But I have to come clean to Scott. He has to know how I feel about him. It was wrong to tag Abs along, it was wrong to deny Scott but this feels right, for once I'm doing the right thing.
I knocked on the door and heard a muffled reply. I took that a sign to go in. Inside sat Scott, he was putting the finishing touches on his hair. I have to admit, I miss those spikes, when he got them I hated it with a passion but they took on a personality of their own.
'Hi Mel' He turned around once noticing me 'What's up?'
'Nothing' I smiled, just the fact of knowing that we'll be together in few minutes gave me a good reason to smile 'I have to talk to you'
He put the wax down and turned his whole body to me, his expression remained the same 'You have my attention.'
I nodded, this was it. The moment I've been waiting for 2 years.
'Scott' I began, looking down on the floor 'Remember the first night you came to my room?'
He was silent. I didn't know if he was thinking about it or was just taken back by my question.
'Well' I decided to continue 'You told me you would wait.'
'Yes...'
'For me. Right?'
He took a seat on the chair and looked at me with a raised eyebrow 'I did Melanie.' He agreed 'But the next morning you told me you didn't want me'
'I didn't say it like that' I protested, surprised that he brought it up.
'That's what you meant'
I sighed, why was I getting this uneasy feeling from him. 'Look Scott. You said you love me. You always will love me.' I took a deep breath and tucked a piece of hair behind my ear 'I love you too Scott'
Silence. Dead silence from him, the worst part though was that he didn't jump from the chair and chant 'I love you too! I love you too!' Instead he sat there looking at me, maybe past me with this blank expression that I hated so much.
'Well?' I looked at him expecantly.
'Well...I don't know what to say'
'I was hoping you would tell me the speech you told that night' I giggled lightly but he didn't share my amusment.
'Melanie' He said seriously 'I..I..I love you too. I always will, you know that. You will hold a special place in my heart but... you don't have my heart'
I looked at him confused and shocked all in once.
'I can't be with you now...'The silence was broken by a knock on the door, one of the assistants stepped in.
'Scott, get on the set'
'Be right there' He waved his hand at her and waited till she left. 'Sorry'
I stood up from the chair and smoothed out my hair. There were no thoughts in my mind, it was absoultely blank. The only thing I knew was that I wanted to get out of that room as quickly as possible.
I watched as Mel came out of Scott's dressing room. The expression she had on was nothing I expected to be. She walked aimlessly over to me and sat down.
'What I happened?' I asked curiously. She stared out into space as if seeing a ghost.
'He...He doesn't want me'
'Oh Mel' I gasped and hugged her tightly. It was then that she broke into a loud cry.
'What am I supposed to do now?' She wailed.
'Well,' I tried coming up with some good answers but my mind was point blank.
'Why is this happening?!' She sobbed, looking up at me for an answer.
'Hey, look on the bright side' I smiled but soon it faded, I realized there was no bright side to this. She dumped Abs and Scott dumped her.
'There has to be someone else!' She jerked away from me, looking around the set fiercely 'Who could it be?'
'Maybe her?' I snickered while pointing at one of the janitor ladies. Mel shot a cold glare to me and continued searching. I sighed and leaned back in my chair thinking who could be so special enough to make Scott refuse Mel?
'You don't think its Autumn do you?' She nudged me 'They didn't go to the club yesterday, maybe she made him realize that he loves her'
'Amanda was with them, ask her' I shrugged, nodding towards Amanda who was lingering around the director. Her face seemed lifeless and pale like never before.
'No' Mel exhaled loudly. 'I think I'll let it slide'
'Abs!' I flicked my fingers in his ears but still no answer. 'Earth to Abs, we request a permission to-' I stopped, he didn't seem to notice me at all. Must be something about the coffee since he's deeply in thought about it.
'You and me baby' I whispered in his ear 'Ain't nothing but mammals...so let's do it, like they do on the discovery channel'
Abs's head turned slowly towards me like an owl, he stared at me with his big eyes.
'Okay' I took a step back, something about his look scared me 'What's the matter?'
His eyes narrowed at me, his lips pressed against each other, forming a thin line.
'It's all your fault!' He snapped suddenly 'If you would bring your friends to the whole party in the first place, Scott wouldn't meet Mel, I wouldn't have fallen for her and we wouldn't be here!'
I stood there with my jaw opened. 'You fell for Mel?' I asked in disbelief.
He grinded his teeth together as if my question was a fire match to dynamite already waiting to explode.
'I'll just leave you alone' I told him quickly and dashed away. Then there was a loud thump and a clattering of noises. I turned back at Abs, fearing he smashed something but he was standing in the same place as he was, looking at something past me. I turned back and saw what I thought I would never see in my life. Scott and Ritch beating each other to death.
