‘Sure feels like home’ I laughed to myself as the rain came down harder. Scott scrambled over to me and hid under my umbrella.
‘I miss the sun’ He whined.
‘You’ll have all the sun in South America’ I reminded him. He shrugged carelessly. ‘You won’t be there.’
‘Enough of sweet talk!’ J exclaimed, pushing us along. ‘I need to get home and you’re holding us up.’
The company’s van was ready for the lads, which meant we the girls had to get home alone.
‘Promise to call me tomorrow?’ I asked Scott. He nodded and kissed me softly.
‘Good bye gals!’ He waved to the rest of them. ‘It was nice having you in the US’
No answer came from the girls. They stood dumbly around, shivering from the cold rain.
The van’s door close and the car speed away in a matter of seconds.
‘I need sleep’ Becky groaned, supporting herself on me. ‘Anyone else agrees?’
‘Let’s just get a car and go home’ Mel proposed, stepping out of the small corner. She waved down a taxi and began loading the baggage.
‘HOME!!!’ Becky yelled as soon as we stepped in. ‘Oh HOME! My lovely HOME!!’
‘Welcome back’ Autumn greeted us. The house seemed cleaner then ever, maybe she did listen to Becky and cleaned up.
‘My COUCH!’ Becky petted the sofa. ‘My sweet COUCH’ She hugged it tightly. I sighed heavily at her, maybe her ears are still stuffed up from the flight.
‘My KITCHEN!’ She cried out louder, running into the kitchen with her arms open.
‘Is she going to hug everything?’ Amanda asked laughing.
‘I did the same’ Autumn replied with a grin.
‘All I want to do is sit down and watch some EastEnders’ Mel announced, plopping herself on the sofa without even bothering to bring her luggage up.
‘Its nice to be home’ I muttered to myself with a smile.
The next day I woke up realizing I feel asleep on the couch.
‘Good morning sleepy head’ Liz’s smile appeared over my head. ‘Did you watch TV all night?’
‘I guess’ I yawned and slid off the sofa. Suddenly jumping back at the sight of J sitting at the table.
‘Hiya!’ He waved chirpily.
‘How long have you been here?’ I asked, rubbing my forehead.
‘Just few minutes, even the doorbell didn’t’ wake you up’ He laughed at me.
‘He’s not staying long’ Liz explained, pulling him off the chair.
‘Yea, Abs is outside waiting for me-‘ J stopped shortly just as Liz hit him on the arm. He looked at her offended then realized I was still watching. He smiled innocently at me and dashed out of the room. I sighed and walked over to the window. Abs’s car was standing on the street in front of the house. I remember exactly how he took me for that ride to convince me to come to US. I laughed inwardly at how stupid that was. I saw him look toward the house from the car. He seemed unfazed by my feelings. I got what I deserved.
‘You don’t need him’ I heard Autumn say. I turned from the window and looked at her.
‘I don’t need Scott, you don’t need Abs.’
‘Maybe you’re right’ I said quietly, turning back to the window and closing the blinds.
