Chapter 6

Jodi took a deep breath as she watched the London streets zoom by quickly. She felt Sean's rigid body next to her; he was contemplating his horrible luck. Jodi knew that, his face expression said it all. She brought him nothing but trouble, she brought everyone trouble. Against all her will, the tears began forming in her eyes and soon were streaming silently down her cheeks.

Sean felt her body shake as she tried to contain her sobs. He rolled his eyes at her. She wants to be treated like an adult by others but now is crying like a baby.

'You're going to send me home alone?' She asked, tearfully looking at him. Sean ignored the plea in her voice and puppy look her eye.

'I'll call your mother and then send you home.' He replied. The cab now turned into the train station's direction. 'The train for Leeds leaves at 4. You got 2 hours.'

Jodi searched his face for any signs that maybe, just maybe there is hope he won't do what he's saying but his face was seemed annoyed. He could have been home, enjoying beer with J but no… Jodi had to happen.

'You don't understand!' Jodi cried out. 'I had to leave! My mother turned psychotic on me!'

'They all do!' Sean exclaimed back. 'Its no reason for you to escape!'

Jodi slouched in the seat, leaning her head against the window.

'I thought you would understand.' She said quietly. 'You are living on your own now, not having to deal with these problems.'

Sean sighed heavily. Here she goes with the guilt trip.

'Jodi' He warned her sternly. 'You're going home, whether you like it or not!'

'I should have never told you' She muttered. 'You would never notice.'

'I'm not stupid' He growled.

'I was staying at my aunts house; she's out for a month on vacation! I got the house keys!' Jodi argued.

'So?'

'Sean!' Came her pleading cry. 'Please! Don't send me, not yet at least!'

The cab came to a halt before Sean could protest. He dropped the money into the driver's hand. Sharply grabbing Jodi's arm, he led her to the terminal. She squiggled and wiggled out of his grab while he made his way over to the ticket counter but his hand was so tightly around her wrist it soon began turning red from her efforts.

'You're hurting me' She cried out.

'Then stop fidgeting!' With a pleasant smile he turned to the lady at the booth. 'One way ticket to Leeds please.'

Jodi's hair stood up straight at the sound of that sentence. Her worst reality came into being sooner than she planned. Sean had no heart, no pity. She didn't think he was serious when he dragged her out of the pub right after she told him. She only regretted the food that was left behind un- eaten.

Sean turned to her with a ticket in his hand and a proud smile on his face. He didn't fall into her guilty words or pleading eyes. He was holding his ground.

'I'll keep this for now' He told her, putting the ticket into his jacket. 'Get comfortable, you got 2 hours till your train leaves.'

'I hope you rot in hell!' She hissed in him, steadily the anger was rising up in her. No more she felt the love for him, now the only thing on her mind was to scratch that bold head of his.

'Well thank you Jodi' He smiled sarcastically. 'Your best wishes are good to me.' Jodi rolled her eyes at him and sank onto the bench near by. She looked blankly at the piece of the ticket sticking out of his jacket. Still feeling angry, she decided to give him the silent treatment. Which wasn't the best idea, since Sean loved her silence.

The silence didn't last long though. In moments Jodi sat beside him with a mischievous smile.

'So Sean' She began, trying to look as if she was past the fact of going home and now wanted to make conversation. 'You haven't told me about your band'

'Well if you haven't noticed' he said, returning her easy going smile. 'There wasn't much time.'

'So now we have 2 whole hours, tell tell!' Sean looked at her cautiously before breaking into a smile. 'Its really wicked' He beamed. 'The lads are cool and our first single will be out in November.'

'That's awesome' Jodi smiled genuinely. 'So I guess you'll be celebrating when it hits number 1 right?'

'It will hit number 1!' He exclaimed confidently. 'And yes we will celebrate!'

'Lots of drinks, eh?' Jodi continued.

Sean's smile faded as he glanced at her suspiciously. Where was she heading at?

'I guess' he replied still eyeing her.

'Lots and lots of drinks' She smiled slyly. 'Like I saw when I walked into the house.'

Sean's eyes grew bigger as he stared at her in complete horror. Now fully aware what she was planning.

'What you saw then doesn't happen often' He explained.

'But it happens' Jodi shrugged. 'Besides, even if it happened once, your mother will get a kick out of that one time.'

'Jodi!' Sean exclaimed desperately. 'Stop it!'

'I'm not doing anything' Jodi held up her arms defensively.

'Your sabotaging me!'

'And if I am?'

'You're a bloody devil!'

'Thank you' She grinned at him sheepishly. 'Your mother is so vulnerable, just one report from me and she'll be here in minutes whipping your bottom.'

'So I'll explain to her you were mad and you made up lies!' Sean said, gripping onto his last hope.

'Let think this through' Jodi tilted her head to the side and looked at him thoughtfully. 'Who sounds more convincing? Me, who saw you passed out with my own eyes and has been your mother's little helper or you, who has abandoned her in Leeds to live with 4 other strangers in London? Hmm, tough one!' Sean looked hopelessly at her. Jodi knew the tables had turn and now she had to jump at it.

'May I offer you a proposition?'

'Shoot'

She clasped her hands and took a deep breath. 'Let me stay here for a week, without a word to my parents and I will tell of no stories of your drinking experiences or whatever else I can make up when I return home.'

Sean looked at her then down at the ticket sticking out of his jacket. The rotten kid had tricked him and left him with no choice.

'Fine' He exasperated. 'But you will pay for this blackmail.' Jodi didn't hear his words, for she was already ripping the ticket into thousand of pieces and singing loudly to herself. She won once again.
