(pronounced “Van Hanagan) Pastor John (as he likes to be called) arrived at St James in 2010 after 26 years of pastoral ministry to churches in Upstate New York, and Ontario, Canada. During his previous call he also served as Dean of the Central Crossroads Conference of the Upstate New York Synod, ELCA. He and his wife Pam met in high school and have been married for 34 years. They have two grown children residing in Buffalo, NY, Mary, and John. Pastor John was born in Rochester, NY and attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, South Hamilton, Massachusetts. He was ordained at Gates Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) Rochester, NY, then entered ministry in the ELCA in 1996 through the Upstate New York Synod ELCA and The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, PA.
