*The Next Morning*
'Ding, dong.' went the doorbell.
"I'll get it." Brian said.
Brian opened the door and Joey was standing there with flowers.
"Joey, what are you doing here?" Brian asked. "I came to pick Amanda up for our date. Is she ready?" Joey said. "She's not going on a date with you." "Yes she is. Look at the note she sent me."
It looked like this: Dearest Joey, I would love to go on another date with you. Love, Amanda McLean
"I can't believe it. She's cheating on me!" Brian said. "So is she ready for the date?" Joey said with a grin. "She's not going on any date. Just leave." "Fine."
*In Amanda's Room*
"Amanda, we need to talk." Brian said. "Okay. What do you want?" Amanda said. "This is really hard." "Try your best." "I'm breaking the engagement." "What?! Why?" "Your cheating on me." "No, I'm not." "Yes, you are." "You know what?! If you don't believe me, you can leave."
Brian left and Amanda slammed the door. Then she started crying. The phone was ringing off the hook. Amanda was to sad to answer it so she let the answering machine get the phone calls. The first message was from Stephanie. It said: Hi Amanda! It's Steph. Me and AJ are going to go to the movies and are wondering if you and Brian would like to go too? Call me later. Bye. At the sound of Brian's name she wailed even louder.
'Why? Why did he dump me? I never cheated on him. Where did he get the idea that I was cheating on him?' she thought.
Suddenly she knew exactly who.
'JC! I hate him more than I ever hated him before. I should have known. He's always tryin' to ruin my life. If only Brian knew it was one of JC's scams.' she thought.
When Brian got home he found a message on his answering machine. It said: "Ha! Ha! Now that you and Amanda are broken up she's mine for the taking. Your enemy, JC. P.S.- You are a loser. Ha! Ha!"
"I'm going to call her and apologize." Brian said.
He picked up the phone and dialed Amanda's number. "Hello?" Amanda said. "Hi. It's Brian." "Look I don't want to talk." "Why?" "Well, duh? Hum. Let's see. Oh, yeah. You broke my heart, smashed it into hundreds of millions of pieces." "I know. But now I know that it was your ex. He left a message on my machine. Please forgive me." "I don't know if I can. I'll think about it. If I like my blind date better..." "Wait! You're going on a blind date already?!" "Yeah. I told Sarah that we broke up and she said one of her old boyfriends who always liked me was in town and was still single. She set us up on a date. His name is Drew something. I can't remember his last name. Look. I need to get ready. I'll call you tonight."
Click. Amanda had hung up on him. "Man. Why did I believe Joey?" Brian said aloud to himself.
AJ had walked into the room at this time and was standing there looking at him wierd.
"What?" Brian asked. "You may be upset but there's no reason to talk to yourself. You could talk to me or Steph." AJ said. "Oh. Bite me." "No thanks. But if you were Steph..." "Shut up, AJ." "What I'm just trying to help?!"
Brian walked out of the room and Stephanie walked in.
"What's his problem?" she asked. AJ shrugged his shoulders.
