Stephanie went to her locker to get her cheerleading uniform. In her locker, she found a single rose with a note. Stephanie grabbed the rose and her cheerleading uniform. She went in the bathroom and got changed then she read the note. It said.
'We need to talk. Meet me out front before practice.' ~Jeff
Stephanie sighed and she walked outside. Jeff was standing up against the building.
"Yes? I'm kind-of late for practice." Stephanie said. "I think we need to take a break." "What do you mean?" "I don't think we should see each other anymore." "Your breaking up with me?" "Yeah." "Why?" "Cause we are growing apart."
Stephanie just stood there not knowing what to do. Jeff came over and gave her a hug.
"I'm really sorry." he said before walking away.
Stephanie stood there holding back tears. She felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around and Nick was standing behind her.
"I saw what happened." he said.
Stephanie looked into his crystal blue eyes and started crying. Nick gave her a hug and she cried into his chest. After she was done crying, she pulled away. Stephanie looked down at Nick's shirt, it was wet.
"I'm sorry." she said. "Hey. Don't worry about it. My shirt will dry. Are you alright?" "Yeah. I'll be fine. I think I should go." "Are you going to your practice?" "No. I'm skipping it." "Why don't I give you a ride?" "Thanks but I'd rather walk. You can join me if you want." "Ok." "Um. Just hold on. I got to get my books." "Alright."
Stephanie went back in the school and got her books. Then she came back out and they started walking home.
"Let me carry your books." Nick said. "You don't have to." "I want to."
Stephanie smiled a little smile and Nick took her books. It took them about 20 minutes to get to Stephanie's house. Nick walked her up to the door and handed her back her books.
"Thank you for walking me home." Stephanie said. "No problem."
Stephanie ripped a piece of paper out of her notebook and wrote down her number.
"Call me." she said. "Ok."
Nick started walking across the lawn to the house next door.
"Where are you going?" Stephanie asked. "My house." "You live next door?" "Yeah." "Why didn't you tell me?" "You never asked."
Stephanie smiled and went in the house and Nick went over to his house.
