ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
(By James A Thompson Jr. in 1973)

In putting this genealogical work together, I would like to
acknowledge the help of all those who were particularly outstanding
in producing this end product. The first person I want to thank
is my wife who typed, wrote, traveled, and helped over all
to the utmost. I traced the Thompson lines in Columbus County until I
could go no further back. On a tip I went to Robeson County and
through Mrs. Lois Alexander of Rowland, North Carolina, I was able
to obtain the address of Mrs. Ruth Williams of Rock Mount, North
Carolina and finish the work I had started. Mrs. Williams is a
noted genealogist and without her hard work I should have perished
by the wayside. The most important thank you goes to Mrs. Ruth
Williams who contributed most of the information on the Thompsons
in Robeson County and all of the Bridger Data.

I would also like to thank all of the Thompsons who contributed
data to this work. Their interest will enable later generations
to learn of their past. Time might have erased what facts are now
easily obtained if they had not been printed at this time. All who
especially contributed their time and effort are to be thanked.
I hope this end has justified the means throughout the work. I restate
Will Rogers immortal quote "I never met a Thompson I didn't like."
During all the traveling I did, all those of Thompson lineage were
most gracious and kind. Their warmth and zest for living is a goal
for all others.

I thank you all.

AUTHOR'S NOTE
(By James A Thompson Jr. in 1973)

Any mistakes are the work of the author and should be taken
in light of his obvious difficulties in compilation. Some information
is still lacking and will hopefully be added at a later time.

SISTER OF AUTHOR'S NOTE
(By Mary Anne Thompson Dorman in 1999)

Any mistakes are the work of this transcriber and would
be author and should be taken in the light of her obvious
lack of genealogical expertise. Much information is still
lacking after 25 year and will hopefully be added at a later
millineum.
I wish to acknowledge the valuable input from Mr. Timothy Inman
which is rapidly filling out blanks in this history.
More recently I've heard from a cousin, Mr. J. C. Thompson
from Texas, who has shed tremendous light on the origins
of the family, stuff we've been looking for for years!
With J.C.'s permission, I hope to fill in more of the blanks!

Mary Anne Thompson
