Homemade Drinks
LIN'S KAHLUA,
2 ozs. instand coffee granules
4 cups granulated sugar
2 cups boiling water
1 whole vanilla bean
1 pint brandy
In large saucepan or bowl mix coffee and
sugar together, then add water and stir until
coffee and sugar are dissolved. Let cool. Cut
vanilla bean in very small pieces - add to
liquid, then stir in brandy.
Using ladle and funnel pour mixture into
glass jars with secure lids. Make sure equal
amount of the vanilla bean ends up in each
jar. Store in cool dark place such as
cupboard or pantry. Do not open jars and peek
or sample for at least 30 days
Kahlua
3 1/4 cups of sugar
1 pint of water (boiled until clear)
6 TBS. of instant coffee fixed in half cup of
water or half a cup of very VERY strong brew.
1 TBS. of vanilla
2 tsp. of glycerin
Mix coffee and other ingredients to syrup.
Let cool. Add 1/5 100 proof vodka, 80% proof
for less bite. Enjoy!
And watch your intake before you drive! If,
even you should!
Egg Nog For One
1 large Egg
1 Tbs Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla
8 oz Milk or Half and Half or combination of
the two
Dash Nutmeg Beat egg, sugar and
vanilla with wire whisk. Pour into large mug.
Add milk and mix well. Microwave for about 2
1/2 minutes. Stirring every 30 seconds. DO
NOT BOIL. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Serve
immediately.
Makes: 1 Serving
Note: You can
turn this into homemade vanilla ice cream by
leaving off the nutmeg and freezing it for
several hours until frozen (stirring about
every 30 - 40 minutes).
By adding an extra
egg yolk, before microwaving, you can make it
French Vanilla ice cream. This is really good
in the summertime to help cool you
down.
