The Morning Worship

The Call to Prayer

Sing to the Lord, you servants of his; give thanks for the remembrance of his holiness. For his wrath endures but the twinkling of an eye but his favor for a lifetime.

The Request for God's Presence

I cry out to you O Lord, and I say, " You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living. "
The Greeting

Glory to God in the highest and peace to his people on earth.
Lord God, heavenly king, almighty God and father, we worship you,
We give you thanks, we praise you for your glory.
Lord, Jesus, only son of the father,
Lord God, Lamb of God,
You take away the sins of the world
Have mercy on us.
You are seated at the right hand of the Father,
Receive our prayers.
For you, alone, are the holy one.
You, alone, are the Lord.
You, alone, are the most high, Jesus, the Christ,
With the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen

The Refrain for the Morning Lessons

On this day, the Lord has acted. Rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24

The Lesson

John’s disciples and the Pharisees were keeping fast, when some of the people came to Jesus and said to him, " Why is it that John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not?" Jesus replied, " Surely the bridegrooms attendants cannot fast while the bridegroom is still with them! As long as they have the bridegroom they cannot fast. But the time will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then, on that day, they will fast." Mark 2:18-20

The Refrain

On This day, the Lord has acted. Rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24

The Psalm for the Week

Let this be written for a future generation, so that people yet unborn may praise the Lord.
For the Lord looked down from his holy place, from heaven he beheld the earth.
That he might hear the groan of the captive, and set free those condemned to die.
That they might declare in Zion the Name of the Lord, and his praise in Jerusalem.
When the peoples are gathered together and the kingdoms also, to serve the Lord.
Psalm 102:18-22

The Refrain

In God the Lord, whose name I praise, in God I trust and will not be afraid, for what can mortals do to me?

The Gloria

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning is now and shall be forever. Amen

The Lord's Prayer

The Prayer for the Week

Most loving Father, whose will it is for us to give thanks for all things, to fear nothing but the loss of you, and to cast all our care on you who cares for us: Preserve me from faithless fears and worldly anxieties, that no cloud of this mortal life may hide from me the light of your immortal love which you manifested to us in your son, Jesus, Our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

The Concluding Prayer of the Church

Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought me in safety to this new day; Preserve me with your mighty power, so that I may not fall into sin, nor be overcome by adversity and in all I do direct me to the fulfilling of your purpose; through Jesus, your Son and My Lord.  Amen+
