Wow, here we go again huh? LOL! Hey, can't expect me to do PNC without Jones Beach can you? Even if it is a bitch to get there from where I am. However, I made the 2 1/2 hour trek up here (that's without traffic mind you). It was well worth it!
First off, a big shout out to the people I met. Hello NYCRedhead, Blaze, Tracie, LPS123, and there were some others who I can't remember the names now. You all rock! It was great meeting you!
**Ahem** Here we go again. Feel free to pass by this next paragraph, but I like describing the boys clothes for some reason. Simon had a white jacket and was wearing the same outfit he wore in PNC - except it was plain black jeans with no pinstripes and he wore the "falcon" (????) belt (WHICH I LOVE!!!!). He switched to the red shirt and then was wearing a black jacket for "STILL BREATHING". John had on the black millitary jacket and the famous "pube" shirt, with those lovely leather pants again, but later he changed his and was wearing all black. Nick had a pink, it looked like it was shiny and it was a silky jacket (at first I thought it was leather, but this is what happens when you are in the back section....LOL) and all black. Andy had the same outfit as PNC and Roger had the same pants, but his shirt was sort of sleeveless and it was black as usual.
The concert. I said PNC was a great concert. Well, Jones Beach was an AWESOME CONCERT!!!! Oh man, so much better than PNC!!!! It has always been my experience that the Jones Beach concerts were always better than PNC (I've been seeing DD at PNC and Jones Beach since 1999). Anyway, the sound was much clearer, and the cool breeze from the waters was a nice touch too!!
Once again, I think the majority of the Duran fans were up in the front section, because there were hardly anyone standing up in my section. Everyone, for the most part, either sat down throughout the whole show or they would get up to get a drink or something. There were people who even came late! They came to their seats when half the concert was over. Stupid. All I know is I was standing up and dancing! Yeah baby!
OMG, highlights, plenty and too many to mention once again. However, thanks to my "psychic" vibes (ha ha), they played COME UP AND SEE ME! Ye-ha! I never heard that song live and it was excellent! Woo man, that was the bomb (also, there is something about Simon playing the guitar....hee hee). TASTE OF SUMMER was another highlight. So was NEW RELIGION (which I forgot to mention in my PNC review). There is just something about SIMON playing the tambourines as well.
Someone threw a beach ball onstage and John kicked it to the crowd towards the left, and everyone kept playing with it. Someone also gave Simon a rose.
Another cute moment - the conversations between John and Simon. John had said something to the effect that they were getting close to the end of their long American tour and Simon said "it's a big fuckin' country isn't it?" Then John replied, "it is a big fuckin' country!" LOL! Gotta love them. John also stated that they will be working on a new album in September (woo hoo)!
This show was not sold out as there were empty seats next to me again, but the concert stick rocked! So worth the long trip! It also wasn't until I was in the car going home that I realized the guys did not play HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF ('round of applause! Woo hoo! No HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF!! Sorry that song has been a little overplayed **runs away from the computer now**).
