Matchbox Twenty at the Sovereign Bank Arena - April 25, 2001

Hi, everybody! Wow, well, I pretty much just started this page, so I don't really have a page fully developed for my second favorite band (at least not yet)! Anyway, I hope you will enjoy my review of the show they did in Trenton, NJ (a big challenge for me getting there) and PNC BANK ARTS CENTER. Also, feel free to check out these MATCHBOX TWENTY LINKS as well. I found them to be very good! Okay, on to the review:

Oh man, what a show! This was my first MatchBox 20 concert and they kicked major ass! Where to begin? Well, I was in the front row on ADAM'S side (who kept nodding and smiling at me throughout the whole concert).

Although my eyes were mainly on ROB THOMAS (because he is my fave and he had on really tight pants....hee hee), I can tell you what the guys were wearing. ADAM GAYNOR (guitarist) was wearing all black and black baggy pants, BRIAN YALE (bass player) was wearing something all navy with navy baggy pants, KYLE COOK (lead guitar and not bad looking) had on a white T-shirt that said "Mitchen" on it and blue jeans that were just not tight enough in my book because it made him look like he had a saggy ass....LOL! Those guys are cool, though. I couldn't see what the drummer (PAUL DOUCETTE) was wearing because the drumset was in the way.

Oh yes, and let's not forget ROB. Everytime I see him, he is wearing black. Tonight was no exception and he had the tightest pants (well, they weren't SUPER TIGHT, but it was enough to see his "package" and yes, he has a nice ass too). He had on a black short sleeve shirt, black pants, and black shoes. (Hee, hee, have I got your attention ladies? LOL.)

The show, like I said, was fabulous. The sound wasn't that great in the arena, but I didn't care. I was still able to hear them. (Well, I was right by the speakers....LOL.)

Now I see why I like this band so much, they have great stage presence. Each band member made sure they got to the entire stage (even the people who were on the side of them).

LOL, ROB is also famous for reading signs. Tonight wasn't any different. Someone had a sign up and he asked "what does that say, sweetheart?" If I had center, I would of brought a sign so he could say that to me (hey, we're a year apart, it's okay....LOL)!

A couple of highlights were when ROB was playing the piano and when he played the guitar (there was one slow bluesy song that I forgot the name, they played and I was staring at him throughout the whole song while he played **sigh**). When he sat down the first time on the piano, he had his back towards some people in the audience, so he turned around and said "just letting you know, I am not ignoring you sitting like this. You guys can get a nice view of my ass." Lucky people, I wish I was sitting over there....lmao!

I had the best, best time at this show and of course, ROB said "New Jersey, you fuckin' rock" and he thanked us for being there several times throughout the show.

The audience was very mixed. It wasn't just a bunch of screaming teenagers. In fact, to my surprise, there were more "older people", which was a relief to me. The last thing I needed was some teenage kid screaming in my ear. Nope, they had people in their teens up to, like, their 30s. I even had a mother-daughter group next to me. The mother looked like she was in her mid 30s and her daughter looked about 12. I thought it was so awesome because I don't consider MATCHBOX 20 to be a teen band anyway.

The guys in this group struck me as people who really appreciate their fans and know that without us, they wouldn't be around, there are some musicians who don't, but not them; so THANK YOU MATCHBOX 20 FOR APPRECIATING US! WE CERTAINLY APPRECIATE YOU! COME BACK AROUND FOR ANOTHER TOUR, WE'LL BE HERE!! :)
