Hi everyone! This is a review of the Renee Elise Goldsberry event on June 2, 2007 at the Marriot East Side in NYC. This was my first event and I went with a pal from school.
Okay, well first of all, I hadn't been sleeping the past three or four days because of this event and the night before was even worse. I think I had gotten, maybe, an hour in at most....LOL! I didn't know what to expect so I felt kind of nervous (not about meeting Renee, though. It was the other stuff....LOL)!
Second, I want to thank Debby O'Connor for organizing this event. She is really a nice person too and without her (and Renee) this event would not even take place.
Well, what can I say? After about a 1/2 walk from the Port Authority to the hotel, my friend and I finally made it! Since my friend and I do not know the subway system in NYC, we decided to walk it. Hey, you know what? It was worth the walk and the excercise. Hee hee! Well I can tell you this folks. Renee likes to talk a lot....LOL! I think she said something to the effect that she usually brings another guest from OLTL because she tends to ramble, but she decided to go solo today....LOL! In fact, she did say that for her next event she would like to hear less of her talking and more of the fans....LMAO! She was so funny. She was so nice and was just like "one of girls". She is so different from her character on the famous USA Soap One Life to Live. Her character was Evangeline Williamson and she was so serious, but I still liked her a lot and I also grew to like Renee because of Evangeline. Unfortunately, she is no longer on the show but she went on to do a movie. In fact, she had just come in the night before from finishing it up. She said she was working with Steven Segal on the movie called Marker (I think that's what she said) which is an action movie. She also talked about the concert she's doing with Kassie DePaiva (Blair Craimer) and Kathy Brier (Marcie McBaine).
She also sung a couple of songs, which I was coincidentally enough, wondering if she was going to sing at this event. She sung songs off her Beautiful CD and gave us a taste of what songs she will sing at the concert the night before the Emmys. I told her that I had all of her CDs and that she had a beautiful voice. She told me thank you and then I told her that this was my first event, so she asked me if I had fun. I said yes! Then I said that my pal and I were both music majors and she wanted to know what year we were in and what school we went to. I told her that I was a voice major and she said that she should take me telling her about her voice as a compliment and then I told her that my pal was a guitar major. She said that he should play with her.
Renee was so sweet to everyone and she went to each table to talk to all of us personally. Not only does she like to talk, but so do her fans! LOL! So much so that her event went into overtime. It was supposed to start at 9:00am and end at 12:00pm. Well, she didn't arrive until 9:30am and we didn't get out until 1:15pm but it was well worth it! We were one of the last tables so we all waited patiently. She made sure she got to each and every one of us, signed autographs, and took pictures with us. There was another event scheduled at 1:00 (more like 1:30. I think I figured out a pattern here....LOL!), but even though we were 15 minutes over, she made sure she stayed. She was even going to take it outside into the hall. That's how dedicated to her fans she is. It was like talking to one of your friends. I got her Beautiful CD signed and I had brought an 8X10 photo of her that she also signed. :)
Overall, it was a great and awesome event. She made sure to tell everyone that even though she's no longer on OLTL, this will not be her last fan event. We all clapped and cheered. I knew there was a reason why she is one of my favorite actresses. She is doing the "Ladies of Llanview" event, for example, in August which my pal and I plan on attending. She was wonderful! I love you Renee! :)
P.S. - Sorry about the quality of the photos here. I started taking pictures and then my battery started to go low on my digital camera, so I have posted here the two best shots. Luckily my friend was there to save the day, so when it came time for my picture to be taken with Renee it came out perfect! He used a dispoable camera. I also took about two other pics with his camera as well when she came to our table. Unfortunately, the printer I have now does not scan photos, so enjoy the two here....LOL! Don't worry, at the next event, I am going to make sure to have extra batteries for my camera....LMAO!
