LIGHTEN YOUR BIKE THE LAST CHAPTER?? WELL I WASNT EVEN GOING TO DO THIS LAST ARTICLE ON LIGHTEN YOUR BIKE UP BUT AN OLD FRIEND OF MINE TOLD ME A FEW WAYS TO FURTHER LIGHTEN YOUR BIKE UP AND I AGREE THAT THSES IDEAS ARE TRUE SO HERE I AM AND YOU KNOW A LIGHT BIKE IS A BETTER BIKE TO WHIP OR SPIN ON AS IT IS LESS FRICTION TO GO AGAINST YOU. THERE ARE A FEW RADICAL THINGS TO FURTHER GET WEIGHT OFF YOUR BIKE AND HERE ARE SOME IDEAS..........

--DRILL OUT BOTH PEGS AND BE SURE TO HAVE THE HOLES SPREAD OUT FURTHER ENUFF SO THE METAL DOESNT GET FATIGUED AND YOU HAVE THE COLLASPED OF THE METAL ONTO THE NEXT HOLE. YOU WILL ALSO NEED TO TAKE A FILE AND FILE DOWN AROUND THE HOLES SO YOU DONT LOOK LIKE YOU HAD A BAD HAND JOB WHEN YOU GRAB YOU PEGS AND ALSO MOST IMPORTANT THOSE RAGGED EDGES DONT MAKE YOUR SHOES LOOK HOLY AND I CAN TELL YOU RAGGED AND SHARP EDGES ON AND AROUND THE DRILLED HOLES CAN CAUSE YOUR SHOES TO GET HOLES QUICK OR WORN YOUR SHOES DOWN ALOT QUICKER THAN YOU WANT THEM TO AND WE KNOW HOW EXPENSIVE SHOES ARE. THE WEIGHT LOST FOR DRILLING OUT YOUR 4 PEGS WILL BE AROUND 4 OUNCES OR ABOUT AN OUNCE FOR EACH PEGS AND YOU HAVE TO DECIDE IF IT IS WORTH THOSE 4 OUNCES TO DRILL OUT YOUR PEGS.

--SOME OF THE REAL HARDCORE WEIGHT WATCHERS DRILL OUT THEIR SPOCKETS AND YES EVEN THE GRAVEYARD SPOCKETS AND YOU GOT TO BE CAREFULAGAIN TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENUFF METAL TO KEEP IT STRONG AS YOUR HAVE ALOT OF STRESS ON THE SPOCKET DUE TO THE CHAIN AND THE PULL. THE WIEGHT YOUR TAKE OFF IS MININUM AT THE MOST AT MAYBE 1/2-3/4 OUNCE AND AGAIN IT IS UP TO YOU WHAT YOU WANT TO DO BUT THIS ONE IS NOT NECESSARY AND HAS MORE RISK TO IT THEN DRILLING OUT YOUR PEGS.

-- OTHER DRILL PARTS INCLUDES THE CRANKS WHICH IS HIGHLY RISKY AND THERE HAS BEEN ALOT OF SNAPPED CRANKS BECAUSE OF CRACKS AND BREAKAGE BECAUSE THE CRANK COULDNT HOLD UP BECAUSE THE METAL HAD BEEN DRILLED AND HAD BEEN WEAKENED. RIMS HAVE BEEN ALSO DRILLED AND THIS IS A COMMON THING AMONG FLATLANDERS AND HAS ACTUALLY HAS A LOW CHANCE OF ANYTHING CRACKING OR SNAPPING THE RIM IF YOU DO THE DRILLING IN MODERATION AND IT CAN TAKE OFF A OUNCE OFF EACH RIM. IF YOU USE AN ARAYA 7X RIM AND DRILL MAYBE 12-14 HOLES IN THEM THEN YOU WILL HAVE ONE OF THE LIGHTEST WHEEL SETUPS AND THIS IS WITH A PRO NANKAI HUB FOR THE BACK WHEEL. THE FRONT AS I HAVE SAID CAN BE A 36 LACED WITH A LOW FLANGE LIGHT WHEEL HUB AND ARAYA 7X RIM AND THAT WILL BE ONE OF THE LIGHTEST FRONT WHEEL SETUP AND IF YOU DRILL 10 HOLES IN THE FRONT RIM THAT WILL MAKE IT EVEN LIGHTER BUT BE CAREFUL AS YOUR ALREADY HAVE A 36 WHEEL SETUP SO DRILLING THE FRONT WHEEL YOU REALLY CANT DRILL MORE THAN 10 HOLES WITHOUT GETTING INTO THE DANGER ZONE WITH FLEX AND SOME OTHER PROBLEMS.

--OK ALOT OF RIDERS ARE NOW GOING BRAKELESS IN THE BACK AND THIS IS FIRST VERY GOOD IN THE WEIGHT DEPARTMENT AS IT TAKES LIKE 7-8 OUNCES OFF THE BACK END AND ALSO IN THE FRONT END TAKES OFF 1-2 OUNCES DEPENDING ON WHAT KIND OF BRAKE LEVEL YOU HAVE BUT BEFORE YOU GO BRAKELESS MAKE SURE YOU CAN HANDLE YOUR BIKE AND ALSO CAN HANDLE DOING THE BACK WHEEL TRICKS YOU WANT TO LEARN AND CAN DO THE TRICKS BRAKELESS. WHEN YOU ARE GOING BRAKELESS THIS MAKES DOING THE TRICKS ALOT HARDER AND IT WIL TAKE A LITTLE MORE PATIENCE IN LEARNING THEM BUT ALSO ONCE YOU LEARN THEM BRAKELESS, PEOPLE WILL GIVE YA A LITTLE MORE RESPECT TOO I HAVE LEARNED.

--THE MOST RADICAL OF THE CRAZY THINGS THAT HAS BEEN SEEN IS THE 6 PEG SETUP WHERE YOU DONT HAVE CRANKS OR SPOCKETS OR CHAIN AND ALL YOU HAVE ARE TWO PEGS WELDED ON THE BOTTOM BRACKET AND YES DRILLED OUT PEGS TOO OF ALL THINGS. THIS CUTS DOWN ON OVER 3 POUNDS OFF YOUR BIKE AND THE BREAKDOWN IS LIKE 2 1/2 ON THE CRANKS OR 42 OUNCES OR SO,SPOCKET AND CHAIN IS ANOTHER 1/2 POUND OR SO PLUS. THIS RADICAL CONCEPT IS NOT REALLY LOOKED ON TOO WELL AND ALOT OF PEOPLE CALL IT THE SCOOTER SYNDROME BUT A GUY FROM CENTRAL CALIFORNIA BY THE NAME OF ADAM PINTEK TAKES THIS SETUP SERIOUSLY AND IS ABLE TO RIDE THE SCOOTER SETUP REAL WELL AND HAS BEEN RIDING IN THE PRO CLASS AT SOME OF THE MAJOR CONTESTS OF LATE AND BEEN DOING WELL. ADAM IS ABLE TO GET ENUFF SPEED OFF A FEW PUSHES AND IS ABLE TO KEEP AND WORK UP TO SPEED TO DO ALOT OF THE TRICKS HE WANTS TO PULL OFF BUT UNFORTANTELY ALOT OF FELLOW RIDERS THINK HE AND THE SETUP IS A JOKE BUT HE HAS ONE OF THE LIGHTEST BIKES I HAVE SEEN AND THE GT SHOW FRAME DOES HELP TOO.
