Yukishiro Tomoe was the daughter of a samurai family. She had one brother, Enishi, whom her mother
died give birth to. Tomoe raised Enishi herself.
She was always very serious and not demonstrative with her emotions or her affection. For that reason, the man she was engaged to, Kiyosato Akira, was convinced that she didn't love him. He left her to go to Kyoto and fight the Ishin Shishi and was killed by the Hitokiri Battousai. But, although Tomoe didn't ever smile for him or tell him how she felt, Akira was her childhood friend and she cared very deeply about him. When she heard that Hitokiri Battousai had killed her fiancé, she vowed to avenge him by killing the Battousai herself.
Tomoe agreed to become the agent of a group of nija called the Yaminobu. She would get close to the Hitokiri and discover his weakness and then, the Yaminobu would kill him for her. So, Tomoe went to Kyoto in search of the Hitokiri Battousai and her revenge...
