the ** Route Online>
This is the link to the Route on NEXTBUS. Advice:
Note: ALL PREDICTION TIMES on Nextbus ARE APPROXIMATE. Buses may be late due to traffic, poor road conditions, or any unique/unusual situation. GPS equipment problems may also throw times off. Also, the computer you're using may/may also affect whether you're able to get accurate tracking. Always allow as much time as possible to get to the bus stop (or to travel for that matter). Note: Click on the actual stop on the GOOGLE map to get the PREDICTION TIMES. |
Stop List> What bus stops the bus services, in the order listed. To get to a certain area/building of a campus, get off at the closest bus stop to your point of destination. You have to check with a campus map to see what stop is closest to where. |
Route Funfacts> Some interesting facts about the particular route. |
"WEEKEND 1" ROUTE (named 'Winter Break 1' during Winter Break, 'Spring Break 1' during Spring Break, and 'Summer 1' during Summer). "WEEKEND 2" ROUTE (named 'Winter Break 2' during Winter Break, 'Spring Break 2' during Spring Break, and 'Summer 2' during Summer). |

**The third weekend bus currently
no longer terminates after 7 PM.
|
First bus out is from CAC. 7:00
AM until 6:40 PM; approximately every 35 minutes; 2 buses on route.
**The Winter Break 1/Spring Break 1 was changed so that they now run using the same exact schedule as the Summer 1, since Winter Break 2013. A few days into the Winter Break 2013, issues came up with the Knight Mover; where the solution was for the Winter Break 1 to be extended to 12 AM instead of stopping at 7 PM (also meaning the Knight Mover now starts at 12 AM weekdays instead of at 7 PM during Winter/Spring Break). |
First bus out is from CAC. 7:00
AM until 10:30 AM; approximately every 23-24 minutes; 3 buses on route.
**Due to higher demand/passenger concerns; a third Summer 1 bus was added for service between 7 AM to 10:30 AM; increasing frequency from buses every 35 minutes to buses every 23-24 minutes. |

The # of weekend buses has actually not changed (Fall 2009: 6 total>2 maximum each on the A/EE/L. Fall 2010: 6 total>3 maximum on the Weekend 1 and Weekend 2). Winter/Spring/Summer Break: Maximum of 2 (As of 7/23/14; the maximum Summer 1 buses from 7 AM to 10:30 AM is 3; then it drops to 2). Articulated buses may be used during the Summer 1 due to passenger capacity/accommodation concerns. -Starting Spring Break 2012: Different names will FINALLY be used for the route during different time periods (for first time since the Weekend 1 & 2 routes were put in at the start of the Fall 2010 semester), instead of "Weekend 1", to reduce confusion of the fact that a "Weekend" route is running during WEEKDAYS (Winter Break, Spring Break, Summer). -A roundtrip (starting from CAC-RSC, going to Busch, then eventually to Livingston, to Cook/Douglass, then back to CAC-RSC) is NORMALLY 70 minutes long. After 7:30 PM (Semester Weekends) / 9:00 PM (Winter/Spring Break, Summer Weekdays), the roundtrip gets dropped down to 60 minutes.

**Due to higher demand/passenger concerns with the Summer 1 bus from 6:40 PM until 12:00 AM; the Summer 2 bus service was extended, to terminate at 11 PM instead of 7 PM. This was done to give passengers additional travel options//alleviate the strain on the lone Summer 1 bus. The alternative of extending the Summer 2 service by 4 hours would have been likely been extending the SECOND Summer 1 bus (that goes out of service at 7:15 PM) for an equal # of hours/trips. |

Summer Weekend // Summer Holiday Service: ((Summer Holidays: Memorial Day and Fourth of July)) ALL CAMPUSES BUS DEPARTURES FROM COLLEGE AVE: 10:00 AM (FIRST BUS OUT), 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 4:00 PM, 5:00 PM, 6:00 PM (LAST BUS OUT) (In
other words, the bus is in service from 10:00 AM UNTIL 7:00 PM, every 60
minutes. The last bus leaves at 6:00 PM. The bus has an hour
to do all of the campuses.)
|
Christmas
Holiday Break:
EXACT DATES: Start: Exact hour TBD on first day of Christmas/Holiday Break until 7:00 AM on January 2 (typically; may change). The bus will be running 24/7 (i.e. CONTINOUSLY) the first day of Christmas/Holiday Break until the day AFTER New Year's. There is ONLY 1 'All Campuses' bus in service; and it will depart from the College Avenue Campus-Rutgers Student Center at the top of every hour (i.e. 6 AM, 7 AM, 8 AM, etc); dependant on the weather & road conditions. NOT counting the "New Brunsquick 1 Shuttle" on its own holiday schedule; there will be NO other routes (no A, EE, LX, etc) and NO KNIGHT MOVER in service during this period. Tip:
For approximate departures from Busch-BCC; add 20 minutes from when the
bus departs CAC-RSC at the top fo the hour (ex: 7 AM leaves from
RSC; so the bus would leave BCC approx 7:20 AM); 25 minutes for approximate
departures from Livingston-LSC (ex: 7:25 AM), and 35 minutes from Red Oak
Lane on Cook/Douglass (ex: 7:35 AM), Again the bus has an hour to
cover all of the campuses in order.

>>Train Station stop (after Scott Hall) added to the route late Summer 2006. >>BEFORE SUMMER 2007: Articulated buses (2014-2026) and ALL NOVA buses numbered after 2101 could not display "ALL CAMPUSES" on their destination signs (along with a whole lot of other messages) for the weirdest of reasons (the code would work, but the signs would display the 'CHECK MW' error message-MW being Message Window), yet this was not a problem with NOVA buses numbered between 1026 to 1058. When any other bus (not 1026-1058) was used on the All Campuses run, paper signs (that said ALL CAMPUSES) and/or OTHER destination messages like "SPECIAL" were used as substitutes. The problem was finally fixed at the beginning of the Summer 2007 season... so ALL of the buses can display ANY message at ANY time. >>SUMMER 2009:
DESTINATION SIGN CHANGES/PROBLEMS led the "ALL CAMPUSES" bus to display
"ALL CAMPUS"... leaving out the "ES" which normally makes "CAMPUS" plural...
-An "All Campuses"
roundtrip (starting from CAC-RSC, going to Busch, then eventually to Livingston,
to Cook/Douglass, then back to CAC-RSC) is 60 minutes long. There
was a brief time when it was 70 minutes ; but it got changed back to 60.

|
In this situation, when classes mid/late afternoon; mid/late evening are cancellation due to bad road/weather conditions, the bus service is normally cut down; gradually. For example, when there are 4 "B" buses in service at say 4 PM, then there might be a reduction down to 2. The remaining buses will run as often as possible (where a normal wait might be 10 minutes, now with less buses and the weather/road conditions that wait could be 15, 20, or even 30 PLUS minutes) until their normal end times unless otherwise changed (example: the F buses don't run past 9:00 PM normally, and during this situation that won't changed). Bus service will still be there for those who were already at class that needed to get back to their dorms/parked cars, etc. So it's not like bus service completely cut off, just reduced. Articulated/accordian buses will not be used on the routes they are normally on (A, B, F, H) due to the road conditions. There
isn't a 'set' // 'specific' schedule when this happens, as things can quickly
get better or worse depending. If things are that bad, the buses
can get grounded (forced to NOT move) until conditions improve.
|
|
In this situation, heavy snowfall (or rains that leads to flooding) overnight leads to the cancellation of classes for the entire day. Depending on how bad things are, SOME bus service will be provided. The most common situation is (on a weekday) for the bus service to run on a WEEKEND schedule (usually a SUNDAY schedule). Again, depending on the situation, 'adequate' bus service will be provided, in some form or fashion. There isn't a 'set' // 'specific' schedule when this happens, as things can quickly get better or worse depending. If things are that bad, the buses can get grounded (forced to NOT move) until conditions improve. People
are advised to NOT travel if they don't need to. There was one instance
during the Spring 2010 semester where the weekend bus service on a weekday
(as classes were cancelled, but weekend service was provided) service was
(forced to be) suddenly canceled without any advanced notice (as at around
3-4 PM, the service was INITIALLY going to be cut by 5 PM, but with worsening
snow/road conditions and buses were getting stuck in the snow, the buses
were instead sent home INSTANTLY THE SECOND they emptied out of passengers
<passengers weren't forced off the bus; the bus kept going to wherever
they needed to go, but the bus didn't pick up new passengers either>).
In this case bus service was not restored until 7 AM the next day;
leaving people stranded at various campuses, or forced to find other means
to get home/around (the Knight Mover was unable to operate during said
time for safety reason as well).
