NJ Summer Biathlon Race Four Results
38 athletes
competed in the fourth race of the Summer Biathlon Summer Series at
Vernon, New Jersey on Sunday, September 10. The race distance was
8km with targets set at 40m. Time credits of 15 seconds and 30 seconds
were awarded for each prone and standing hit, respectively. The Men's Overall
winner was Joseph Iwan of Garfield, NJ, who ran hard and finished with a time
of 28:58. Zbysek Skrabal, who shot an outstanding 19/20, finished behind Iwan
in a time of 29:22. Rounding out the top three was Christian Peterson of
Butler, NJ, who finished in a time of 30:33. Rachel Lussier of Stamford, CT
turned in strong performances on the course and on the range, winning the
Women's Overall title with a finish time of 38:24. Battling it out for second
and third places were Christine Prorock-Rogers of Somerville, NJ and Jeanice
Naulty of Birdsboro, PA, who finished a mere four seconds apart. Iwan and
Rogers' performances clinched the 2006 State Championship titles, while Lussier
and Skrabal once again took top honors for the 2006 Series.

the participant-volunteers - those of you who not only participate, but set up
the range the day before, help score and time, teach clinic, help shop for
supplies and refreshments, and help clean up after the event. Your kindness and
helpfulness is not overlooked :-) Our event really is a team effort - from
