Overall:                      7.5

Plot:                            8.7  (One of the most original ideas out there!)

Grammar/Spelling:     8

In a Nutshell:  Genma and Soun accidentally take a potion that makes them into very small children again.

Critique:  This story is a beautiful one-shot.  It’s especially nice if you don’t mind hints of yaoi.  The end is admittedly a bit surprising, but frankly the whole thing is terribly surprising.

Sum and Substance:  Wow, what an original and lovely idea.  Ranma and Ryoga are thrown into taking care of Genma and Soun-chan, who have become two very small children.  (Through their own stupidity, of course.)  Unfortunately, Ranma and Ryoga have no idea how to take care of a baby and an infant.

This story does all the right things in what seems to be the blink of an eye, offering up an explanation for why Genma really took Ranma on that training trip, as well as offering Nodoka a reason why Ranma and Ryoga have two kids with them all of a sudden.

It also presents one of my favorite aspects: Cologne-the-helpful (as opposed to Cologne-the-evil-beyotch, Cologne-the-useless, and Cologne-the-useless-evil-beyotch).

Finally, Soun and Genma are real children.  Kirasmommy obviously is a mommy, and it shows.  It’s present in all of the fabulous child-details she presents the reader, especially in regards to Genma.  Genma was such a sweet kid that I wanted him after reading this story!

The only thing I found a little off-putting was the very end.  I think that it’s simply too uncomfortable an idea to have a grown man calling a young boy “mommy”.  Hmm; that’s probably it... ;)

In the end, ‘Kids R’ Us’ presents a charming, twilight-zone-esque tale in which the roles of parent and child are summarily exchanged.
