I-87 picks up the fictional freeway system in Lewes, DE, where I-99 leaves off. I-99 runs up the Delmarva Peninsula from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, through Virginia and Maryland, and the southern part of Delaware. I-99 then turns east and heads across a fictional bridge span into New Jersey. I-87 picks up where I-99 turns east, and runs northbound along the rest of the Delmarva Peninsula. Fictional I-87 is a toll road. Following this fictional roadway, there are three $1.00 tolls. The first one is near the southern terminus. The other two are where the already existing tolls on DE-1 are. I-87 provides a freeway connection between Lewes and Milford, runs along the Milford bypass, then connects the Milford bypass to the already existing DE-1 expressway from Dover to just below Wilmington. I-87 then multiplexes with I-95 through Wilmington, breaking off near Concord Pike. I-87 shadows Concord Pike from I-95 to the Pennsylvania state line. A few roadway changes with fictional I-87. I would take DE-1 off the freeway, and run it via surface streets through Milford. I would make DE-1's northern terminus Dover, right at the foot of the existing freeway. Basically, the already existing freeway would just be I-87. Numbers in parenthesis are corresponding exit numbers on DE-1 and I-95.
