Non dug pre-Civil War 1-piece eagle on American shield coat button. This button is MS282 in Tice's button book and closely resembles the Sarsfield Guards and Winchester Guards Massachusetts militia coat buttons minus the initials. This button is thought to be a Massachusetts general use coat button from the same time period c.1828-1834. It is a rare button as are the other two I speak of. The reverse has a raised R & W. ROBINSON . EXTRA RICH . backmark. The shank is straight. It was deaccessed by a small museum near Reading, Ma. and has their inventory number on the reverse. The number can be removed. The front shows some light highpoint use wear and the button measures 21.5 mm's in diameter. $195
