Early pre Civil War, 1-piece copper, gilted Maine militia 6-point star coat button. It is ME 4D. in Albert's button book. The front has a giant centered 6-point star on a recessed plain field. The reverse has a recessed channel with a ring of raised 6-point stars backmark. The shank is straight but a bit out of round. This button measures 22 mm in diameter and shows some use wear. $315
