Rare Applied Eagles & Scroll Work High Ranking Civil War Officers Sword Buckle

Rare high ranking Civil War officer's sword belt buckle. It is silvered copper, brass and brown leather. The front has five beautiful applied gilted cast brass eagles, a fancy cast brass scroll work and floral border, a cast brass scroll work oval, and cast brass oak and laurel leaves. Each piece is separately cast and soldered together. The reverse has a solder applied copper belt loop bar and tongue. The back plate of this buckle is silvered copper. All the pieces of this buckle are soldered together. This is a high quality French made buckle that was privately purchased by a high ranking Union Civil War officer.
