1830's Large Silver Plated Copper Eagle Flags & Cannons Militia Hat Plate

Large pre Civil War silver plated copper volunteer militia eagle cap or hat plate. It is an eagle with flags, cannons, 5-point stars, rifles, lances, and cannon balls plate with a fancy scalloped border. It has a great dark patina. These early plates were attached to the fronts of bell crown hats, tar bucket helmets, and other early militia headgear. The reverse has one of the original copper attachment loops soldered on. It never had a plume holder attached to it. It measures 3 1/4" x 4 1/2" in size. It has a couple bends from use. $635
