The MetroStars got their best scoring opportunity on a 25 yard strike from Clint Mathis. Mathis recieved a pass from forward Jamie Moreno, and shot the ball with full force. The Crew's goalie Jon Busch was forced to tip the ball over the goal for corner kick.

The Crew had the next best scoring oppertunity when Kyle Martino recieved a backpass from Edson Buddle. Martino sent a curving shot that was kept out of the goal with a spectacular save by Tim Howard, who was awarded MLS Player of the Match.

The game featured three rookies for the MetroStars. John Wolyniec who was signed by the MetroSatsr earlier this week, replaced rookie Mike Magee in the second half. Next week the Red and Black will challenge the Los Angeles Galaxy in their quest for the first win this season.
