Cletus is Back!
Just when everyone was about to give up on Clint Mathis and saying that he shouldn't be called-up to the Nats, Clint scored a goal versus the Rapids. The Metros were already down 0-1 after Tim Howard made possibly the worst save attempt a keeper could ever dream of doing. Zizi Roberts took a shot from about 15 yards away from the goal in at an angle. Timmy made the initial stop, but the ball managed to bounce away from him, and into the goal. After that, the magic began with a little help from the Jamaican Craig Ziadie. Ziadie was already playing a rock solid game, and he made it even better in the 51st minute.

Ziadie had moved to the right side of the defense after Chris Leitch had to leave the game due to an injury. With Ziadie being a right sided player, he took advantage of the oppertunity. In the 51st minute, he sent a curving cross in to the box. Mathis leaped over the defender, and headed the ball him for the 1-1 tie. And from then on, Ziadie and the MetroStars took off on the rapid speed.

To finish off his superb night, Ziadie tallied his first career MLS goal. In the 61st minute, Ziadie dribbled around three defenders, including Mark Chung his counsin. He then took a shot from 16 yards out to put the Metros up 2-1. In the game, the MetroStars were struck with bad luck, as the ball hit the post four times.

After the game, Ziadie expressed his feelings after recording his first goal and assist in MLS. “It’s a huge rush. I was surprised I was that open (on the goal) so I dribbled inside and had a shot. I definitely think this is one of the better games but it’s not my best. I definitely can still do better.”
