Winners of the Heisman

Starting at the Memorial Day 2005 party, The Crew has decided another fun way to celebrate our drunken adventures. Thus, the Heisman Trophy was created. While it was not always called the Heisman, it was always awarded to the individual with the best "performance".

The game began with the concept of a trophy for both our Chug & Run Relay and the Come & Run Relay. The best performer in either category would win the cap that came off a new keg of beer. While we normally buy kegs in pairs, it meant we always had a trophy for the winner of either race.

However, we came to find out that awarding the "Cap", as it was called back then, to only those who won either relay would cause many trophies to remain unclaimed. This brought about the new rule: Anyone was eligible to win the Cap by an outstanding drinking performance, accomplishing a terrific feat, winning a relay, or just getting naked. The winner was chosen by a consesus of the Crew Judges.

While in past competitions the Cap was won primarily by males, a new trend of late is females desiring the trophy. That is how the Cap was renamed the Heisman. In an attempt to explain our "competition" to some ladies who were new to our game, I used the comparision of college football's prestigous award, The Heisman Trophy, as a parallel to the Cap. The Heisman just stuck soon after. With more and more individuals vying for the Heisman, it appears that future competitions will prove to be glorious beyond imagination.

A note that Honorable Mentions are awarded in the case when a Heisman should have been given out, but there were no caps for trophies.
