Located
in Central New Jersey, right on the Jersey Shore, Cockatiel Cottage started breeding cockatiels in 1991, with a pair
of Lutinos that were given to my son, Josh. Almost twelve years later, we
now breed seven of the recognized mutations, including Sex-linked Yellowcheeks
and Whitefaces, but mostly specialize in the Lutinos and Heavy Pieds.
We started
exhibiting the cockatiels in
1993. Bird shows have taken us north to New Hampshire, south to Georgia
and west to Washington state. In recent years, both Josh and I have placed
amongst the Top 20 Exhibitors of the Year. We have been the NCS
State Coordinators
for New Jersey since 1995, being awarded the State Coordinators of the Year
award in 1999. Josh has just recently finished his apprenticeship to be an
NCS judge.
We
started breeding Green Rump, Deliciosus, Parrotlets in 1999, and exhibiting them
the following year. Only recently have
we widened our parrotlet population to encompass the yellow and blue mutations
of the pacific parrotlets.
The most recent addition to our aviary are the 2 pairs of green lineolated
parakeets. They are settling in nicely and hopefully will be good breeders for
us in the future.
We
hope that you enjoy viewing our pages and we welcome your comments. Many of the
pages are in the construction phase so please check back frequently for updates.
Please
contact us for availability of breeders and hand-fed babies.
