Bishop Cyprian of Carthage
To be in communion with the Bishop of Rome is to be in communion with the Catholic Church.

Brief Biography: Born of pagan parents in Carthage around the year 210, he was converted, ordained and subsequently made bishop of the city of his birth in 249. By his writings and actions Cyprian guided the Church through difficult times. In the persecution of Valerian he was exiled, then martyred on September 14th, 258. His memorial is celebrated September 16th.
