Chapter 7

Emily headed into the club, with Lance following her. She turned to Kira, and said, “Man, it’s been a while since I last drank.”

“It’s a good thing, though. Don’t you remember what happened last time you drank?” Kira asked.

Emily sighed. “Yes. That’s exactly why I stopped drinking. So it wouldn’t happen. But I won’t do that this time.”

“You better not,” Kira warned. “Especially not with what happened to JC and Lance.”

Emily sighed. “Yeah. I know. When are they going to meet us here?”

“JC said about 9:00. My clock says it’s 8:55, so they should be here any minute,” Kira informed her. “Well, I’m glad your dad got you car fixed today. That was a surprise.”

Emily nodded her head. “Hey, I forgot something in my car. I’ll be right back, okay?” Kira nodded her head. Emily walked outside, and opened her car door. A minute later, a car pulled up next to her. Five familiar guys got out.

“Emily!” she heard. She turned around, and saw Lance looking at her.

“Hi,” she said. She saw JC behind him. She also saw his face go white. “What’s wrong, JC?” she asked him.

He looked uncomfortable. “Um . . . nothing. Don’t worry about it.”

Justin looked at her car. “Whoa, that’s a ’72 Benz, isn’t it? That’s the same kind of car that you guys got in the cr-“

“Yeah, well, let’s go inside now,” Lance said, taking Emily’s hand.

“Wait. I needed to get something out of my car. Go on ahead, I’ll be right in,” Emily told them.

“I’ll stay with you,” Lance offered. The other guys walked inside, with Justin talking.

When they guys had left, Emily turned to Lance. “How come you didn’t tell me, that your girlfriend died in that car crash?”

“You never asked.”

“That shouldn’t matter. Kira knew about it. You should have said something. And also about the fact that your girlfriends’ name was Emily,” she said.

Lance seemed uneasy. “Um . . . I never thought you would want to know,” he slowly said. “But I guess that I’ll tell you. My girlfriend, Emily Mugan (Yes, I know that this is Ems. I couldn’t think of another last name at this time) and JC’s girlfriend, Gabrielle Martin got killed in a car crash.”

“Why did JC’s face go white when he saw me earlier?” Emily asked.

“There’s also something you and Kira don’t know. Remember how I got really interested in your car when I met you?” he asked her. Emily nodded. “Well, the car we crashed in, was a 1972 Mercedes Benz. But it was black. That’s why his face went white. Memories, you know,” he explained. “I found it really weird that you had a Mercedes, and your name was Emily. I mean, I was also thinking about her, when I almost ran you two over.”

Emily sighed. “I guess I understand.”

Lance nodded his head, and held out his hand. “Can we go inside now?” he asked her.

Emily took his hand, and they walked inside. (Oh my god! That had to be the cheesiest scene I have EVER written. Dang! “And they lived happily ever after . . . “ (laugh, giggle, snort))

Joey sat down at the bar, next to a beautiful girl (have you noticed, that no one ever says ‘ and he saw the ugliest girl he had ever seen, and it was love at first sight’? No, of course not! Okay, anyway, back to the story . . .) “Can I borrow a quarter?” he asked. “I told my mom that when I found the girl of my dreams, I’d give her a call.”

The girl started laughing, and couldn’t stop. “Oh my god! That has to be the stupidest line I’ve ever heard!” she choked out. Joey started to get up, but the girl stopped him. “Wait,” she called. “Don’t go trying any more lines on anyone else. You can stay here, I guess. I doubt you could embarrass yourself anymore.” She stared laughing more. “Anyway, what’s your name?”

“Joey.”

“Well, my name’s Sebastian. Haven’t I seen you somewhere before?” she asked.

“I’m part of a musical group called ‘N Sync,” he answered. Sebastian started laughing even more. “And are they as embarrassed of you, as I would be, with you using those lines?”

Joey’s face went red. “Oh, shut up. If I wanted this kind of verbal abuse, I’d go talk to Chris, okay?”

“Okay, I’ll stop . . . sorry.” She took a deep breath. “So, what else do you do, when you’re not singing and dancing?”

“This, pretty much.”

“Getting dissed?” Sebastian asked him. She saw the look on his face, and apologized. “Okay, so, you wanna dance?”

“Yeah.” They got up, and onto the dance floor.

On the other side of the room, Emily had drunken her fourth drink. “Okay, so, I need to sing. I like the fact, that we went to a kareoke bar! Man!” She got up, and headed over to request a song to sing. She came back with the mike. Britney Spears’s . . . Baby One More Time started playing. Emily got onto the pool table.

baby, baby, how was I supposed to know?
That screwing got me pregnant?
Oh baby baby, I should just said no,
Now I’m due in nine months.

You showed me,
How good you can be,
Oh and baby,
It was definitely all that.

My morning sickness is killing me, (and I)
I must confess I still believe, (still believe)
If you had condoms, I would be fine,
Give me a sign,
Do me baby one more time.

Oh baby, baby, you’ll soon pay me child support,
Boy you’ll give me money
Oh pretty baby, I’d get a job if I were you,
How else will I get paid.

You showed me,
How good you can be,
Oh and baby,
It was definitely all that

Morning sickness is killing me, (and I)
I must confess, I still believe, (still believe)
If you had condoms, I would be fine,
Give me a sign,
Do me baby one more time!”

Everyone was cracking up, especially Kira. “She does this a lot. Show off, I mean,” she told everyone.

After the music break was over, Emily started back up.

"Oh baby, baby,
How was I supposed to know

Oh pretty baby,
I should have just said no

I must confess,
my morning sickness,
Is killing me now,
Don’t you know I still believe,
If you had condoms,
Then I would be fine,
Do me baby one more time.

My morning sickness is killing me, (and I)
I must confess, I still believe, (still believe)
If you had condoms, I would be fine,
Give me a sign,
Do me baby one more time!”

My morning sickness,
Is killing me now,
Don’t you know I still believe,
If you had condoms,
Then I would be fine
Do me baby one more time!”

She took a bow, then gave the microphone to someone else. She ran over to Kira, and they high-fived. “Oh yes! I’m so cool!” Emily bragged.

Kira rolled her eyes. “I can’t believe you memorized that! You are such a moron!” Kira told her.

“I can’t help it if I’m cool,” she joked.

Kira pretended to gag. “You really are a dork.”

Emily went, once more, over to the DJ, and a minute later, another song began. It was “Red light Special” by TLC.

A couple of minutes later, she finished the song, and got off the pool table, and headed over to Lance. “So, what do you think?”

Lance shook his head, and laughed. “That you are drunk!”

Emily laughed, and went back to the bar.
