To My Mother, Ethel Lanham Wehrle I guess I thought we'd always be together. That you would live forever. It was always like that song, "You and me against the world." It wasn't right, it wasn't wrong, Just how our lives unfurled. It was you and me, Mother, And, of course, a dozen dogs and cats or so. Strays I picked up from one place or another. And you never said, "It can't stay, it'll have to go." No, there was always room for one more lost babe. I miss you so much. Not a day goes by, I long for your touch. To hear you laugh, see you smile, To sit and reminisce for awhile. You were the strongest person I ever knew. Brave as a lion, soft as the dew. I don't always believe in God, But I always believe in you. But God's been kind and generous to me. For He gave me the best Mother that ever could be. And when I shed this fleshy shroud, I'll be with you, Mom, up in the clouds. It may not be Heaven, of that I'm not clear. But it will be Paradise, with you there, my dear. And we'll eat hot fudge sundaes, and go to movies, and take long drives, head to the beach, go shopping for fabric and buttons, and I'll make you cookies and brownies, and we'll promise to diet, and we'll walk arm in arm in meadows of flowers and ferns, and chase hummingbirds and bunnies, and take care of little lost puppies and kittens. And we'll be best friends once more. And I'll be your little girl all over again. All my love, Sharon Faith Previous Mom This Remembering Mom site is owned by SHARON FAITH.
