The Story Of Jonah

Fish Food

Spanish Version  En Español 2

One of my colleagues once told me that most intelligent people know that the stories inside the Holy Bible are mainly fictional.   However, I asked him, "Why do so many Christians seem to take their religion so seriously by attending many religious services held at churches all around the world?"   His only response was that most of today's devout Christian believers were told as young children by their parents, the people who they loved and trusted the most, that the Holy Bible was the true and inspired Word of God and that it was sacred.   Most young children would never think that their parents were wrong.   Nor would they have a reason to doubt the honesty or the integrity of their parents.   So, at a young age, most children usually learn to believe what their parents believe by imitating them and by learning to follow their beliefs.   My esteemed colleague then asked me, "How else would they be able to believe that some of the most illogical stories ever written, like the one about Jonah, were supposed to be fact instead of them really being fiction?"
There is one unmistakable reason why the story of Jonah is indeed, fiction.   How anyone with half a brain could really be dumb enough to believe this nonsense is still a mystery to me.

Jonah And The Great Fish

Don't feel bad.   Even Jesus believed that the story of Jonah was true.   Jesus was just another believer of religious make-believe: fictional stories, pretenses, or hoaxes which "make" ignorant people "believe" them as being true.

Matthew 12:38-40,   38; Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, "Teacher, we want to see a miraculous sign from you."   39; He answered, "A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.   40; For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."
(Shame on NIV for changing the word, "whale," of the King James Bible, into the word, "fish."   Don't you understand?   This act of changing one word into another one in order to make identical stories, is a blatant lie that is meant to deceive people.   It's well-known that the King James Bible was the main bible read in all of the Christian churches around the world for over 3 centuries.   That means that for 300 years bible readers only saw the word "whale" in the verse.   This contradiction would have been easier to understand back then if the two similar verses in the books of Jonah and Matthew had been fully debated.   It is not a small harmless revision.   It is a lie.)
In Jonah 1:17, a Jonah was supposed to have been swallowed by a great fish and stayed alive in its belly for three days and three nights.   After three days, Jonah was then vomited out upon dry land.   Later, he was supposed to become a prophet of God in Nineveh.

Excuse me, dear reader, but the story ends here.   There is only one unmistakable reason why.   If you still don't know what it is, then you should be ashamed of yourself when you read the following reason.
The unmistakable reason why a Jonah could not have survived at sea in the belly of a great fish "for three days and three nights" is quite simple really:
Fish do not breathe air!   Fish breathe oxygen through their gills!   The oxygen is absorbed directly into the bloodstream through capillaries within their gills.   There is absolutely no possible way that a man would ever have enough air to breathe for three whole days underwater inside the belly of a fish.   Please ask any "scuba" diver.
Okay, you may slap yourself now.

Oh, and please don't go into the stuff about a whale.   First of all, if you want it to be a whale, then it must be written as a whale in the Holy Bible, not just in the KJV New Testament, but in the KJV Old Testament as well.   If this one contradiction is not quite good enough to convince many Christians that their Bible is full of fictional stories, then nothing ever will be later:

The King James Bible:
Jonah 1: 17;   "Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah.   And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights."
(According to the Bible, the scriptures were written many centuries before Jesus was born.   He apparently did not do his homework when he made the following statement.)
Matthew 12: 38;   "Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.   39;   But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40;   For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."   (Apparently, Jesus was an ignorant believer.   He certainly was not very accurate.)

A whale is not a great fish.   A whale is an air-breathing mammal.   Finally, even if it was a whale, Jonah would have still perished because all whales have lungs, not bellies, to hold their air.   Jonah would have simply become another meal by the third day.   I really don't understand the mentality of most devout Christian believers who are apparently dumb enough to be deceived by this nonsense.   Shame on them!

DON'T ARGUE WITH CHILDREN...

A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales.   The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal, it's throat was very small.   The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.   Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.   The little girl said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah."   The teacher asked, "What if Jonah went to hell?"   The little girl replied, "Then you ask him."
