Assessment/Evaluation
Standardized tests are easy to use, too easy! But student projects are more difficult to judge even though research shows that students actually learn more through constructivist methods.
There is a wealth of information, rubrics, and examples of assessment/evaluation of projects available on the Internet. For example:
From Kathy Shrock | Web-based Assessment | Chicago Instructional Intranet |
The Staff Room | Rubrics for Web Lessons | Rubric Construction Set |
At the same time, students must be taught to evaluate information they find on the Internet. There are many resources for that skill as well. For example:
Kathy Shrock's (K-12) | Quality Information Checklist (elem.) | Evaluation Criteria from NMSU |
Internet Detective | Can You Trust That Site? |
