Pretty special!

1/8 Credit in English or math

Check your special birthdate! First, click here and enter the date.

Now you have several jobs to do.

First, make a chart which shows the prices of current common things as shown at the website in a "then" column. In a second column, show the "now" prices for the same things and include where you got the comparison price! In the final column, indicate the increase in each column. Present this information using a spreadsheet program (now would be a terrific time to learn to use a spreadsheet program if you don't know how!)

Second, you must choose THREE research topics from those shown on your birthdate page. On the page I chose, it demonstrated Martin Luther King's birthday becoming a national holiday, four famous people with same birthdays, information about Super Bowl XVII, three "best" movies and their actors, and some information on hockey and basketball as well as many other things. You must ask a research question which is not answered on the page. For example, you could NOT ask "In what year was Paul Simon born?" since that is answered on the page, but you could ask "For what is Paul Simon famous?" Your response to each of the three items must do several things: It must show your question at the beginning. It must answer the question in sentence form. It must show where the information you found came from, and it must have been spell and grammar checked!

Third, you must answer the question below in sentence form. Don't forget the spell and grammar checking issue!

The major purpose of this site is NOT to simply give you information about a particular birthdate. What is it they're really trying to do and how effective do you think they are in achieving their goal?
