>> 1997 >> LIVE AND KICKING [UK]
Intorducing Human Nature

Live and Kicking Magazine was one of the first to bring you BSBs and 911 and now we're giving you hotter than hot Australian foursome Human Nature! The lads have already toured with Jacko, have top voices and we reckon they'll be massice. You've been warned.

You guys are already huge in Oz, so how come we haven't heard of you until now?
Phil: Well, we've kind of spent the last year or so concentrating on Australia. Coming over here without any kind of success back home would have looked a bit bad.
Mike: We've actually just released our second single in Germany, so we're also over there quite a lot at the moment.
Phil: But, success in the UK is our goal right now. We're taking things step by step.

You've got smashing voices - do you show off at Karaoke comps?
Toby: I was out recently with some mates who tried to get me to sing but I wouldn't.
Phil: It'd be a but like being a bar tender and going to a party and spending the whole night pouring drinks for everybody!

How Rock'n'Roll are HN?
Mike: Not too rock'n'roll, but every now and then we have a big night out - and Andrew sometimes sets fireworks off in hotel rooms.
Andrew: It was when we were in Japan and we were asked to leave, because some of my indoor fireworks set off the hotel's smoke alarm. There were all these fire engines outside. It was great!

Who's the 'sensible' one?
Toby: I'd say Andrew. He has a really good time at parties, but when it comes to work, he keeps us all in line.
Andrew: I'm not bossy, but I've always got my mind on our career, for better or worse.

You're very serious about what you do, but is there a lighter side to Human Nature?
Mike: We're not terribly serious as people
Phil: I've actually been storing up some great practival jokes to spring on the guys
Toby: I usually share a room with Phil, so hopefully I won't be the one he gets.
Andrew: He's probably going to put dog poo in your sheets. [uuuugh]

Are youi worried about competition from Boyzone, 911, OTC, etc.?
Mike: The whole boy band thing is really big here, but it hasn't really taken off in Australia, so we're separated from it back there.
Toby: The explosion of pop groups is phenomenal, so hopefully our background and the fact that we're in it because we love music will sine through. In 10 or 15 years this will hopefully still be our career.

Which HN lad's the most romantic?
All: Me!
Andrew: We kind of think the most romantic thing about HN is our sound, so when any of us go on a date, the other 3 guys have to tag along too!

If Spice have Girl Power, what do Human Nature have?
Andrew: Soul Power
Mike: And Singing Power
Andrew: We definately don't have Girl Power though. Or Man Power that the name of an erotic male dance group in Australia!

Finally, this interview has been ...
Mike: Fun!
Andrew: Cool!
Toby: The best part of our trip so far!
