Passport To Human Nature

The music world is buzzing at the moment with Australian acts, particularly the awesome foursome from Sydney Human Nature. As you read this, the lads are raising thei profiles across Europe, Scandinavia and the UK while touring with Michael Jackson and Celine Dion! When the Nature return to Oz in September, they will head the stage around the country for their first National concert tour.
One thing's for sure, these music legends are doing a lot of travelling! Star's globe trotting ace music reporter Robert Manser got his blonde head into gear, grabbed his passport, and accosted the lads on a plane!

We all know that HN are a bunch of rough-as-guts pop stars, but what did you get your mum for Mother's Day?
Mike: A big hug and a kiss.
Phil: I wasn't home to make her breakfast in bed, or to do lots of housework, but I began her day with a long-distance phone call.
Andrew: She likes to smell good, so I got her favourite perfume.
Toby: I always buy my mum some Chanel No.5. It's the only thing she wears and she's always asking me to get her some more, duty-free.

What do you find wierd about yourself?
Mike: The fact that no matter how many early mornings I have, I never enjoy or get used to them.
Phil: That even though I know most of my jokes are bad, I still keep telling them!
Andrew: At least once a day, every day, I will lose something - without fail! Is that wierd or stupid?
Toby: When I get a wake-up call or set an alarm clock to wake up, I can't go back to sleep. OK, that's not wierd, it's stupid!

Most people got to know about you lot when you toured with Michael Jackson. What is the most memorable part of touring with pop music's newest daddy?
Mike: Probably running on that stage for the first time, getting to really see how big the crowd looked, and how big that stage was and how tired you get running from one side to another.
Phil: I guess just getting up on the stage and realising "I'm using the same stage as Michael Jackson uses!" Also the fact that the concerts had the biggest audience we'd ever sung to. That was really scary at first, but real exciting at the same time.
Andrew: The most memorable part for me was finding out we were going to be the opening act for "the King of Pop" - I was just waiting for someone to call and say JUST KIDDING!
Toby: One night we went into the press pit and watched the "King" perfomr about 2 meters in front of us! It was awesome!

What does it feel like to hear your songs on the radio?
Mike: It's pretty wierd hearing your own voice on the radio, you dream about it [or I did] when you're young and finally just sitting in yu car when your own song comes on is really great.
Phil: It's hard to describe. It makes you happy to know that the radio stations are supporting youir song, but when you think about it, it's like WOW! That's me! I don't believe it!
Andrew: When it sounds good, I fell really proud. When our song comes on it's a real "feel good" buzz but sometimes I can't stand hearing my speaking voice back!
Toby: Growing up as a kid listening to the radio, reading magazines, and looking up to musicians, it's great to think that other people are now hearing our music and seeing us!

You seem to be out of the country a lot these days, what would you like to say to your fans at home?
Mike: Thank you all heaps for getting into Human Nature, without you we'd be nowhere, hope you always believe in us 'cos we're always gonna be here.
Phil: Hi, guys! We hope you love the album. We can't wait to hit you with our second. Thanks for supporting our music, and remember: be good to your mum.
Andrew: Thanks for believing in us. We're so pleased that we have heaps of fans here at home because it makes coming back from overseas [where people don't care who we are yet] that much better.
Toby: I'd like to say that our fans everywhere have been great. They've been sooo supportive and into Human Nature. I hope you guys keep on lovin' what we do and please let us know all of your thoughts on "the Nature".

What can people expect from your Aussie tour?
Mike: A fun show, heaps of great songs of course, singing, dancing; we always have a great time on stage
Phil: I can't say that we'd be as spectacular as a Michael Jackson show, but if you're into good music with a bit of excitement thrown in as well, then the Human Nature show is the place to be!
Andrew: We always try and do the most entertaining show possible. We're working on a touring band at the moment which will make things even pumpier [more pumpy? - Ed] And let's hope we can do the Human Nature tour later this year.
Toby: People could expect a really dynamic show; lots of dancing and hopefully lots of fun. We love what we do and love performing live.

If the plane crashed into the ocean below and you had to survive with only five things, list the five things in the world that you couldn't go without:
Mike: Diet Coke, my toothbrush, of course my copy of 'star! Magazine', a stereo, my leather pants.
Phil: The love of my life, my neck chain, my leather jacket [especially in winter], food, water [of course!]
Andrew: A big kiss, peanut butter, music, phone, chocolate milkshake.
Toby: My passport [I love travelling], coffee [I love a cup in the morning], stereo [I'm hooked on it], my dog Napolean [I really miss him], my friends and loved ones [they keep me going].

What's your favourite TV Show?
Mike: Friends
Phil: I would have to say The X-Files, but lately I haven't been home to watch it, so I've been getting into Beavis and Butthead on MTV in our hotel rooms. It's the funniest show I've ever seen!
Andrew: I'm pretty down with Friends - I don't watch it that often though.
Toby: My favourite show is Friends, which is good because they show it on planes as well!

Talking of which, the flight attendant has just announced what the in-flight show that is about to start is going to be, yep, you guessed it ...Friends ... so before the guys kick me off the plane, Phil and I are off to economy where they are showing The X-Files ... so don't forget your passport, as you never know who you'll bump into 25,000 feet in the air!
