Wild Wild West
Night of the Howling Light, #6514
Agent James West and Ahkeema, a scholarly Native American, await the U.S. president's reply to Ahkeema's father, Ho-Tami, who has brokered a peace between 100,000 Indians from various tribes and the U.S. government. West is lured into a hospital where he believes he will find his friend and partner, Artemus Gordon. But instead, he is gassed and carried out in a coffin by the weird, zombie-like aides of Dr. Arcularis. West awakes to discover that Arcularis, who dominates his aides through brainwashing, plans to turn the agent into an assassin and have Ho-Tami killed. Arte races the clock, trying to devise a way to unhypnotize his partner and find out who Arcularis is really working for.
This episode garnered Director of Photography Ted Voigtlander an Emmy Award nomination for his work on The Wild Wild West. He lost out, however, to Winston Hotch, for his work on the series Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
