“NEWBORN THUMBELINA CHRISTENING OR BLESSING WARDROBE” is a pattern booklet from the archives of Mini-Fashion Boutique featuring original vintage doll designs published over 30 years ago. This pattern booklet is for 9" Newborn Thumbelina (Ideals wiggling baby) and the outfits were designed when I first started designing and sewing for dolls. It was self-published in 1968 by Mini-Fashion Boutique, which was a source of independently designed fashions published in separate fashion sheets, booklets, or in a bi-monthly newsletter.
This pattern booklet features a wardrobe for a specxial day! OUTFITS INCLUDE:
1) BEAUTIFUL CHRISTENING GOWN -- Sketch is shown on cover, above. Make this lovely gown of sheer nylon with lacy yoke and front panel with lace appliques, puffed sleeves and 2" ruffle on the lower edge of gown. The sleeves, yoke, front panel and ruffle are all trimmed with narrow lace. 2) Add a lace-trimmed BONNET, also shown above.
3) Slip -- Under the beautiful sheer nylon gown is a white taffeta slip which is trimmed in matching lace around the armholes & neck, as well as the ruffle at the bottom. Also make matching lace-trimmed panties (to wear over the diaper from the Layette Wardrobe pattern) under the gown. Sketch is shown below (no sketch of panties), left.
4) A pretty lace-trimmed BIB with embroidery or applique will protect the gown from surprise spit-ups! Another MUST in any baby layette, especially with such a beautiful gown! (haha) And 5) darling white felt BOOTIES add the prefect finishing tourch in a traditional design with gathering around the inset and ribbon ties that are laced through slits. Both are in the ketch above, right.
6) SACQUE A sacque (jacket) is also included which is also made of sheer nylon and lined. Edges and sleeves are trimmed with lace, with bound neckline and ties. See below:
7) PILLOW & COVERLETare added as a finishing touch, to a darling set for a darling baby. Simple instructions are included and you can make these as elaborate as you desire!
Sketches of the outfits as shown here are on the cover. Instructions are given on a separate sheet. The booklet is reprinted from my original copy on 8-1/2" x 11" paper. One of my earliest designs, my original pattern was printed on a spirit duplicator before I got my mimeograph. It has a yellow cover sheet as shown and there are 5 pages of patterns and instructions
Check my other listing for another Thumbelina pattern booklet "from the archives" featuring her Layette set. Booklet cover is shown below on the left.
